Cheney: "I'm a great believer in the all-volunteer force."

Vice President's Remarks at the Wyoming Boys State Conference
Douglas, Wyoming

<snip>

With respect to the draft, I don't believe we need it. I'm a great believer in the all-volunteer force. It's produced, as I say, I think the finest military we've ever had. And I think if you talk to people serving today, our military commanders, they'll tell you the same thing. It really is a magnificent institution. And we don't need to go to a draft at this point in order to succeed. We keep the machinery available, if it were necessary, but I don't think it will be. I'm sorry for the long answer. (Applause.)

4. I'd like
to see his two daughters go over to Iraq. See how much would he support the war then.

7. I believe Cheney on this one topic
he's a believer in the all volunteer force because the draft exposes the chickenhawks to ridicule.

8. "The finest military we've ever had"
so fuck those who won two world wars and the folks who kicked ass and suffered immeasureably in Vietnam and Korea. And then there's cheney's buddy rumsfeld who said you go to war with the Army you have not the one you want.

Fuck you conservative scum, volunteer, draftee, you don't give a fuck about any of them.

12. What a man
had to fuck his wife and get her pregnant to get that last deferment. But ya know, limbaugh and the like really don't think evil liberals have much argument with the "chickenhawk" label. I guess because they are so manly and brave.

10. He could post that on DU and not get much opposition.

:eyes: Funny how the vast majority of those who agree with a "volunteer" military ... don't - and those who don't ... have.

11. Of course the main reason for a volunteer army......
Is that the officers have less chance of getting shot in the back by their own men. Fragging goes up exponentially with a draft.

13. Damn Right Cheney doesn't need (want) the Draft...
That is the poison pill that the Neocons do NOT want to swallow.

How have the Neocons avoided the Draft?
1. Recycling our troops.
2. Billion dollar private army (Blackwater, et al)
