Why do you support the candidate you do (NO BASHING)?
I don't yet have a favorite - I like Dennis Kucinich, but I also like the others. Out of the group, I have only given to Kucinich but I expect that to change.

So why do you support the candidate that you do?

And remember, don't bash others' candidates, just list why you support x

1. I like Edwards and Obama
But first let me bash Candidate X. Candidate X is bad. You can tell because he is not Edwards or Obama. Plus his name sounds kind of sinister; Candidate X is just not a very trustworthy name.

I like them both because they seem to have a vision of what America can be and they are very good at articulating that vision.

4. I like progressives Kucinich and Edwards
ANYONE speaking out against the ill effects of globalization is a progressive IMHO. Edwards has more of a chance, I think, to win. That's just my gut instinct.

16. My 70 year old mother has her heart set on either Hillary Clinton
... or Barrack Obama winning.

She would like to see a woman president or a president of color in her lifetime ... Democrats only:)

5. Kucinich
I've been voting for Dems for 20 years, usually very proud to so,but they have left me so disillusioned with their passiveness in the face of this administration that my desire to vote for them is at an all time low.I didn't want to vote for Kerry. But even here in Mass where it would have been totally safe not to vote for him I did anyways.I came out of the booth feeling worse than I had ever felt after voting.I realized I was no longer for FOR someone but AGAINST someone.I had been doing that for years because I fucking despise what Republicans stand for with every fiber of my being, but that time hit me entirely different.I thought about that for weeks after and decided I was never going to vote against someone again.I was voting for the person who inspired me the most, who said the things I feel could help the world the most.

It really didn't even have anything to do with Kerry. It could have been anyone.I was just tired of voting like that.

People say the Democrats couldn't do anything during the last six years, and in regards to the Senate and Congress and that framework they're right. But by being vocal,by READING the damn Patriot Act before voting on it (did none of them wonder why it was ready so fast?),by being brave in the face of this and not being scared to look unpatriotic through this major turning point in history would have helped keep a lot more of the party inspired. There have been some who have consistently stuck to their beliefs in the face of the ridicule and scorn, even from those in the same party. The courage to do that inspires me a million times more than playing it safe out of what I see as political expediency.

For me,Kucinich is the one candidate who has shown that kind of courage from the start.

8. Beautiful eloquent and completely on the spot.
It is why I am also going with Dennis, no I dont agree with every little thing he has said or done but he beats the others hands down no contest for his efforts over the last 6 years alone.

As far as electability as soon a sthe public gets a look at his wife and then hears her speak I dare say his average looks will become an absolute positive force, Dennis besides coming from a very poor background is every average Joes dream. Not only powerful and decent enough off with earnings now, he as positioned the nerd of the bunch has managed to not only fall in love and be loved in return by the prom queen but the valedictorian as well.

Though honestly I despise it when the primaries devolves into looks. I say this as hearty up yours that claim no electability on his part because of such shallowness... after all they may be shallow and then blame the populace for their argument but their argument is every bit as shallow in depth of fore thought.

6. For me, it's still a waiting game
I'm still hoping Al will throw his hat into the ring. If he does, my choice is completely clear.

OTOH, I respect all of the current slate of candidates, but I favor John Edwards above all. It's not so much his stances on individual policies, but the whole package.

If I had to pick a second candidate behind Edwards, I think it would be Hillary.

As I said, I have a high regard for ALL the candidates--each and everyone of them will bring their own level of discourse to the future of the 2008 campaign, and perhaps what each of them says might even turn some people around. Giving the American people some considered opinions from as wide and diverse as the candidates themselves might break some barriers among the more moderate republicans who have become disillusioned with the reich-wing. We can only hope that the criminals who have stolen 8 years of our lives will be shoved to the back, where they can be picked off one at a time in due course. If we can't get rid of the PNAC and neo-con influence in the government, we're no better than they are.

10. Edwards right now
because I think his focus on the issues is exactly right, Kucinich is a candidate of principle. Doesn't mean I don't like Obama or Clinton or wouldn't work for them.

13. Richardson because I think he is the most electable...
Democratic Governors do better at the ballot box, especially when they are not from New-England. Also he is pro gun and if the Republicans run a neutral/anti-gun candidate that will throw off many many long established voting trends.

But anyway, issues are minor, we simply cannot afford having ANY Republican in the WH for 4 more years, whats important is that we win and I think Richardson has the credentials and background to do it.

14. Edwards is my favorite (OK, I'd vote for Gore if he ran)
Edwards populist message really speaks to me. I appreciate his focus on poverty and the disparity between that haves and have nots. I have no problem with wealth ...it's the disparity that really bothers me. There is no excuse for the obvious excesses of the few when so many do with out life's basic necessities ... food, shelter, health care.

18. I am shocked at what one of you said about Kerry. What are you
looking for? Kerry is one of the most dedicated and populist senators in Congress. And just like Gore he won. Bush is a liar and a thief...a la Rove. I love Al Gore and have supported him since the first time he ran eons ago, since the environment is my number one issue. Without Gore in the race I am leaning for Hillary. Let a woman have a crack at it is my viesw, but I think we have great candidates, all fine dems. We have to be sure the candidate is not cheated again. That is our job. WE MUST DEMAND AN HONEST ELECTION! Enough is truly enough.
