What is this creature we call YURP?

YURP stands for Young Urban Rebuilding Professional. Hailing from all parts of the country with different backgrounds and different lifestyles, YURPs are the thousands of young professionals who have chosen to work in New Orleans to start their careers and help rebuild the city. Many are fresh college graduates; others are further into their professional lives. Some hail from out of state; many are lifelong Louisianians. Some move here intentionally; others come to volunteer and simply never leave.

While many have jobs directly related to the infrastructural rebuilding of the city - urban planning, architecture, community organizing, legal aid, contracting, health care and education, just to name a few - we believe that any young person who chooses to contribute their labor, income and physical presence to the city's economy and social fabric is a YURP. Bankers, graphic designers, writers, administrative assistants - YURPs are choosing New Orleans and changing it for the better.

I'll take ANY of the YURPs profiled there over King Dumbass!!!
