Appeals Court Declares Michigan's Abortion Law Unconstitutional
A federal appeals court has overturned Michigan's law banning a certain abortion procedure.

The Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati said Monday that the Michigan law violates women's constitutional rights.

It agreed with a Detroit district judge's opinion that Michigan's Legal Birth Definition Act places an "undue burden" on a woman's right to choose an abortion.

The appeals court says Michigan lawmakers would have been on safer ground if they'd copied an Ohio anti-abortion law that's been upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.
