Can someone tell me why our candidates started doing stupid crap like the Dr. Phil show? |
|
I thought about this the other day - we are the only country in the world where our campaign trails include trash TV stops like the Dr. Phil show, where in they are "analyzed" by a TV figure. When did our candidates suddenly have to appear on trash television? And will they continue to do so in '08? No wonder we're not taken seriously anywhere.

Trying desperately to get the eligible citizens to notice, give a care, register and vote. And then ignore everything done to disenfranchise them between elections....

I'm reminded of what George Carlin said on his most recent HBO special - "See? The people on Jerry Springer? Those are the average Americans. The below average are at home, watching that shit on television."

13. I don't have a problem with candidates on shows |
|
like Dr. Phil, Oprah or even like Leno or Letterman.
There's a lot of people out there that don't vote, and if a candidate appearing on one of these shows gets them to the polls then the more power to them. I don't care if it's a dem or repub.
And I don't consider those shows "trash" either, Jerry Springer and Maury are trash, and I've yet to hear that a candidate on them.
