al-Qaida: Captured U.S. Troops Killed

By KIM GAMEL
BAGHDAD (AP) - Insurgents linked to al-Qaida issued a video Monday claiming they killed all three U.S. soldiers captured in an ambush last month. "They were alive and then dead," a voice said during a sequence of images that included the military IDs of two Americans still missing.

The nearly 11-minute video by an al-Qaida front group, the Islamic State of Iraq, offered no proof that the soldiers were killed and buried. The U.S. military insisted the massive manhunt south of Baghdad will go on.

"We condemn the tactics used by these terrorists, and are using all means available to pursue those responsible," said Brig. Gen. Kevin Bergner, the chief military spokesman in Baghdad. "We continue to search and hope that our two missing soldiers will be found alive and in good health."

The video, posted on a militant Web site, included grainy black-and-white footage said to have been taken during the May 12 pre-dawn ambush. It also showed credit cards, money and other personal items the militants called "booty." A headline said: "Bush is the reason of the loss of your POWs."{emphasis mine}

1. IF a combatant militia captures a soldier, and disarms that soldier ...
Edited on Tue Jun-05-07 12:38 AM by Trajan
Then that soldier can do no harm ... Killing that soldier is murder ....

Plain and simple ....

No matter HOW asinine or dangerous the Bush cabal is, that in and of itself does NOT provide a justification to kill an unarmed man who is captive and in your control ....

Killing those soldiers is murder .... There aren't two different moral codes in this world ...

2. No, blaming Bush doesn't justify their actions. I'm just posting the news..
Is it murder when our bombs kill innocent Iraqi civillians?

4. Well of course it is ....
ANY purposeful infliction of death on unarmed innocents cannot ever be morally justifiable ....

3. Given the extremely questionable military actions our nation has engaged...

...I see no moral leg upon which we stand.

Of course, these guys are murderers. Cheney/Bush and their tens of millions of ignorant enablers are accessories before the fact.

5. Yeah, we haven't exactly set the bar very high for this hurdle, have we?
I'n not bashing or broad brushing our troops, but we have had a few rogue elements within the ranks... and the policies and tactics of this failed misadministration have certainly put our guys in more danger if they are captured.

9. Yes, I am neither trashing our troops.

While I'm sure there are plenty of jerks in the ranks my assumption was that these were regular guys who joined to defend our nation, not offend others.

And like you say, maladministration has put them in an unreasonably precarious position.

My heart goes out to their families.

I hate this f'in war.

10. Now matter how bad someone is ...
That 'badness' doesnt give anyone else a right to kill indiscriminately ....

Unlike what some might say : Morality IS universal .... and people like George Bush do NOT 'lower the bar' ....

The slither and slime their way under the bar ... WAY under the bar, but the bar itself does not move ...

7. Excuse me ...
But I, like you, did not sanction this course of action, and took at least some action to stop it ....

I will not be held accountable for Bush's malfeasances in office or in life ...

I can stand up and state confidently that I did not cause the death of anyone .... and I will defend YOUR right to stand apart from the 'we' in your comment ..... When you say 'we', you are obviously speaking of someone other than you or I ....

11. Take it easy. I didn't include you among the tens of millions of enablers.

You're excused. Murders sucks.
