Michael Moore on Oprah Tuesday

Michael Moore will appear on Oprah tomorrow, Tuesday, June 5, and will present, for the first time on television, scenes from his new film, "Sicko." Oprah will interview Michael about the movie and the attention it's receiving before its release (opening day everywhere is June 29). The theme of Oprah's show is the one film you must see this summer -- "Sicko" -- and the one book you must read (Cormac McCarthy's "The Road"). Oprah loved Michael's film and wants to make health care for all one of her main missions this year.

1. I still haven't found out if they're using Andy's story.
Either way, I can't wait till the film is released. :hi:

3. Yup
will be looking to see if Andy's heartwrenching storiy shows up as well as my friend Steph's.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=389&topic_id=985806 (first link on this thread though in that article, she didn't address the medical neglect her son experienced in the military)

They filmed her for more than 7 hours.

During lunch I said to the producer, "you guys must be overwhelmed with stories." She acknowledged they were totally.

So we shall see.

Hope so though.

4. She was a sweet, smart lady. AFAIK, she brought the crew here
for a few hours and interviewed several members of Andy's family as well.

Oh, and the camaera guy told me my condo was charming. LOL! He didn't know I spent hours clearing out cat hair before they got here.

5. OMG despite the sadness of the story my friend had to tell,
Edited on Tue Jun-05-07 04:08 PM by stellanoir
that crew was so damned funny. My friend had breakfast fare and they showed up late so it was lunch time.

The driver was gonna go get sandwiches. The crew said, "Not so fast. We may need something out of the van." I said, "Murphy's law of equipment: If he takes the van you'll need something in it. If he doesn't, you won't. I'll happily drive him." He was a cutie.

Well I'm a camera phobe, not 'cause I'm bug ugly or anything but I made sure that they would not film me and I took the driver to a gourmet deli to get sandwiches.
We came back in the house and I started getting plates and napkins together in the kitchen and the driver said, "we're in the shot." Sure enough we were.

I was on the other side of a kitchen table.

What does a camera phobe do when caught on film. . .? I immediately dropped to all fours and reverted to a quadruped.

Ahhh there was no tablecloth on the kitchen table so that spastic act accomplished absolutely nothing in a long shot.

I think I was channeling Lucille Ball or something. Not that she was a quadruped or anything.

The camera guy was a black guy with freckles and he had an elfin spark that was totally enchanting, playful, and adorable. He totally roasted me saying my phobic primate lapse was one of the funniest things he's ever shot and how my film debut would be really riotous. Little did he know of my prior stuff.

This was last October and I told him about my pending election day prayer about ". . .neutralizing any malicious code in the vote tallying software. . . so that the true will of the people is revealed " and he said," can't you shift it in our direction? " I said, "there is no need. We are the majority after all."

Estimates are that 3 million votes were shifted in the mid terms versus 8-11 million votes shifted in '04 but I still haven't gotten around to checking out the proportional ratio. Where the heck is TIA when ya need 'im. . .?

They were all fantastically wonderful people for sure.

2. am watching now
that is inexcusable the disparity in care received by "enemy combatants" and 9/11 rescue workers. Due to their volunteer status they get the shaft on coverage???? I'm sure some earmark or resolution could easily have been reached, but apparently not in the current system.

can't wait to see the film.

7. I am so glad...
he explained they went to Guantanamo, not this "went to Cuba" crap the RWers have been peddling, which implies he went to share tea with Castro or something.

Then again, the RWers can't stand anyone who shows honesty and compassion.
