The Hill’s got eyes: Medical marvel or makeup, new look turning heads
http://news.bostonherald.com/columnists/view.bg?articleid=1004863

In the offices of dermatologist-to-the-stars Jeffrey Dover of SkinCare Physicians, Chestnut Hill, a visiting “anchorwoman,” said Dover, noted Hillary’s “flawless, almost dewy” appearance and wondered if it was spectacular makeup or Botox, or perhaps fillers or microdermabrasion. Here’s the good news, ladies. “Hillary could’ve left an event in Washington at 9 o’clock,” said Dover, “had all this done and been back on the campaign trail next morning.”

And if she didn’t want to tell, no one would know, not Bill, staff or the Secret Service. Oh, the debt we aging boomers owe to medical miracles! Plus, if this is true, the debt we owe Hillary! I mean, who’s got more substance, stature, brains and gravitas? If even she submits to the knife, the injection needle, whatever, does that not validate the rest of us mere vain mortals? “Anybody should do whatever they want,” says TV commentator Callie Crossley. “But I would feel bad if she did anything to respond to somebody who said she’s ugly.”

23. My response exactly
It's faaaaar too late to criticize presidential candidates because they deliberately go out of their way to look good on TV.

This goes back to the Nixon/Kennedy debate.

Why was this man being interviewed about Hillary Clinton?
And who or what is Callie Crossley?

2. Big deal - Liddy Dole did it in 96 AND 2000 AND 2004 with no corpmedia attention.

4. I think it's makeup
At the debate, she looked fantastic. The next day, at the Faith & Politics forum, her eyes looked much worse.

5. If Hillary looked altered or weird it might be an issue.
People could point to her vanity or obsession with looks.

But whatever she's had done, she looks FANTASTIC. I wish all of us could looks so good at that age. The article mentions botox, but she doesn't have that weirf expressionless look - she looks very natural.

Good for her. A woman is expected to care about her appearance - so what?

You can never win. If she came up there with no make-up and a frumpy hairdo, we'd hear no end to the jokes about hairy-pitted, birkenstock-wearing bra-burning whatever. They can't have it both ways.

21. Maybe you should check the polls once in a while.
And she will be a fabulous pres.

Then I will happily send you a stapler and a suggestion as to what you can do with it

22. This far out all the polls mean is that she has name recognition
Nobody pays attention this far out. Otherwise we'd all be arguing about President Dean's policies right now, if early polling meant anything.

Clinton wouldn't make a good president for all the same reason's she's not a very good senator. She can't get her finger out of the wind, she's too closely connected to the system and she's got all the appeal and sincerity of a b-grade televangelist. If her name were Hillary Johnson and her husband was a farmer, she might get to be a state senator or something of about that level, but she really doesn't have the qualifications for a national office on her own merits.

7. Whatever she did, she looked amazing at the debate
If it was just makeup, she should never let that makeup artist out of her sight.

13. Amen.
I just want to know who her doctor and/or makeup artist is!

I looked better than she did in 1992, but she looks a lot better than I do now.

15. She did look good
she's been looking good lately - she seems to have come into her own and really looks comfortable in her own skin.

11. More power to her.
maybe we should go back and get all "Laura's" pics and see her......how bout the transformation of coulter....man to woman...we suspect. But of course if Hillary had a pick up done the world stops and Anna Nicole, Natalie Holloway, run away bride all over again. Get real people...anybody with enough money does it.....men included.

14. It was make-up
as well as fantastic lighting. In the harsh glare of daylight (or fluorescent light), she looks fabulously like a woman her age. With lights -- probably a pink gel over the bulb to help diffuse and even out tone (even the guys get it, so don't beat up on her about that) -- and a deft make-up artist (guys get them too at the debates), she looks fantastic.

Really, there's no issue here. Like the other Poster said, if she went sans make-up she'd be slammed. Even she tries to look nice, she's slammed. But it really is a non-issue ... unless you're a sexist jerk more interested in the packaging than what they believe in. THEN it's a HUGE issue!

But we're not like that on DU, are we?

I'd give even odds that Mitt Romney has had at least one eye-lift and probably a face-lift as well.

18. Josh Marshall's response to this: "Matt Drudge flacks a Boston Herald story..."
Yet another bogus Hillary story.

Matt Drudge flacks a Boston Herald story that reversed the order of two photos of Hillary in order to suggest that she'd had "work" done on her face.

20. It is amazing what a derm or plastic surgeon can do these days w/o any downtime.
I really don't find these procedures a big deal and in some circles it is just "maintenance". Her performance was sharp and that is all I noticed on my choppy little CNN.com feed.

25. That's a terrible comparison pic
I doubt whether ANYONE would look good with the harsh, spotlight lighting on the right side of the
picture. It also looks poorly color balanced. Mind you, she does have the baggy eyes of anyone who didn't get enough sleep.

By the same token, the left half is using flat, low, diffused lighting with a hair highlight. Flattering to almost any woman.

My point is, these pics could represent the very same woman days apart with NO surgery or augmentation whatsoever.

26. I think she looked great the other night. It was her makeup artist.
Other times, it's not as great. No big deal. And I really don't think she would ever have plastic surgery. Both she and her hubby are comfortable in their own skin. Eye bags, wrinkles and all.
