Does anyone remember the old Star Trek episode in which Kirk and Spock
join up with Lincoln and Surak to fight 4 tyrants from history in a Battle between Good and Evil to illustrate the difference for an alien race?

At the end, the creature who staged the battle notes that both sides used the same techniques. Kirk points out that the creature offered the bad guys power and glory, while Kirk and Spock were fighting for the lives of the crew.

The contrast between the Democratic and Republican debates brings this episode to mind. The Democrats are about making a better life for Americans; the Republicans seem to be hung up on fear of Terrorists and fear of illegal immigrants!

5. Impressive!
For those not blessed with such recall, here's the Memory Alpha article on that episode: http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/The_Savage_Curtain

Setting off from there on a time-wasting trail of wikilinks, I discovered that, sometime in the 23rd century, Mount Rushmore was modified to include a fifth President: an African-American woman. Paramount released an image of the remade monument.

Unfortunately, the relevant scene was deleted from Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. You can read the story and see the image here: http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Mount_Rushmore_National_Memorial

Truly is it written that the internet is the Procrastination Superhighway.

2. Ooh. I'm having flashbacks of my high school days when
I'd come home from school, and then chill out by watching ST while having an afternoon snack of two plates of leftover spaghetti.

In spite of what Bush* may say, I think he is obsessed with his legacy, and wants to be known for making his mark in the ME. He wants the glory. Cheney wants the wealth and the power it brings. Neither cares about what the rest of us, especially the military, have to sacrifice for them.

We need a Kirk and a Spock now.

4. Savage

Do you think that the Democrats are 'Surak' and are peaceful and not fighting

They should have renamed Col Green who led the genocide on the planet Tiburon
To: President GW Bush who led the illegal invasion of Iraq which killed over 200,000 people.
