Tom "xenophobe" Tancredo
My God this man is insane.

They're just people who happen to speak another language. What is wrong with this person?

2. 100 years ago, congressmen in his very same seat were railing against
immigrants from Italy, as in his ancestors.

3. Gee, what old political party does Tancredo resemble?
Oh, this one:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nativists

The bigoted, anti-immigrant Know-Nothing Party - wonderful...

4. I'm surprised he's not calling for a return of the Alien & Sedition Acts!

6. I don't seem to see a
distinction between immigrant and illegal alien in this chain of thought. Immigrants who enter this country legally are welcome; people that sneak in under the fence are not. Trying to frame illegal aliens as immigrants does a disservice to the conversation.

What is it that is to be gained by open borders and not just souther borders this would mean ALL borders. Or, is this really just to allow South American lawn people in and house keepers in?

So ... flame away about being a xenophobe, a racist whatever.

7. Tancredo was also talking about what "meant" to be an American
and I disagree with his take. His "English only" crap and his idea of "cutting off with the past" are bullshit.

8. Agreed ... I'm not watching the debate
I just read this thread. I know Tancredo used to be only about the closing of the borders, but it looks like he's now really bending for the "one-toothed" Republican crowd. Just to say it, on my list of issues, somewhere after ending the war, restoring the Constitution, restoring education, health care .... is this illegal alien problem. I'm just looking for some reasonable middle ground here.
