Earthquake in New Hampshire??
EXETER, New Hampshire: After people called to report hearing explosions, emergency officials initially thought there had been underground methane gas blasts. But it turns out that New Hampshire actually had three small earthquakes over the weekend.

The tremors caused no damage or injuries.

The state Emergency Management Agency said the quakes were felt Saturday night and Sunday afternoon in the Portsmouth-Exeter area of the northeastern U.S. state.

The U.S. Geological Survey listed two of the quakes as magnitudes 1.4 and 1.9. A magnitude for the third quake was not available.

4. Lately, we've had Extreme Moisture with Hot/Cold swings
With all that granite, expanding/contracting with huge amounts of water when we've had year-after-year of drought.. I'm not surprised the ground is making noise.

22. There are 13 faults in New Hampshire -
- with quakes recorded as early as 1727. They're just not as frequent or as severe as quakes on the west coast. More info at:

15. faults on the east coast
Trace the Appalachian Mountains from New England to Georgia and you have a pretty good idea of where the fault lines run along the east coast. Small quakes are good, 1.4 and 1.9 richter scale quakes are, generally, below the level of human perception, usually in the 3.0 to 3.5 range.

17. Who feels a 1.4 earthquake?
Anything below a 3.5 isn't even really noticable. Small quakes happen multiple times a day all across California and they never even get noticed. This is a wierd story.

23. We've had little earthquakes here before....
Once, in the 80's, I was in a parking lot when suddenly the ground vibrated so much under my feet that I lost my footing. It lasted about 30 seconds. No biggie.
