Help! - anyone know how you post a diary at DKos??
I am trying to post a diary over at DKos - I can post it here in a journal very easily (and I will soon enough), but after corresponding via several diary replies and reading new user diaries and the FAQ help section, it isn't working for me.

The basic premise is that you write a draft, preview it, save it, go through it and edit it, then preview it again, and then click the "publish it" link. Well, I don't have a publish link on my draft page. Other people tell me once my draft is saved to click the "New Diary Entry" link on the top right of DKos - my saved draft will appear in its textbox and then the publish link will show. Well I do just that and instead I get a brand new "untitled" diary draft page.

Anyone know how to remedy the situation? I like staying active in both progressive communities, but so far I'm way more active here - I just comment and recommend posts there.

Thanks in advance. And again, I'll post my thing in a journal here tonight.

2. I've been a user for a few months, so I don't think that's it
I had read that, though. So I'm still confused!

4. Making a Kos diary is like using a Da Vinci code codex. Horrible.
Out of seven tries, I've only gotten one to publish. Here's what I deduced from all of it:

1. If you try to preview, it seems to "break" the link. You really can't do that, so don't even try.

2. If you post a picture, never click "Save Draft". It wrecks it.

3. I swear that even clicking "Edit Diary" seems to break the link, too.

For one diary attempt, I spent a total of 13 hours working on it over a period of days. And I'm not a tech idiot, either; I have a website and do all kinds of things without that much problem.

The only time I got one to work, I just made it, but did not edit or preview (did all editing while I was writing it). I did click "Save Draft". Then later I clicked "Preview" one time, when I was ready to publish it, and I did see the "publish" button. I guess I'm saying not to click edit, and only click preview the one time, when you're ready to publish it.

Others may say that's wrong, but that's the only thing that worked for me. And you're not alone - Kos is the hardest thing I've ever tried to use. Made me cry and scream. Let us know if you get it to work, and good luck. Kos needs to scrap that antideluvian system and get something that real people can use!

:hi:

6. Where is Save Draft?
Edited on Wed Jun-06-07 04:43 AM by sandnsea
I don't even have that come up, it's either edit or publish. I have no problems at all. Weird, isn't it. I wonder what the difference is in what we're seeing.

On Edit:

Never mind, now I see it at the bottom there. I've just never used it.

7. Save Draft shows up for me at the bottom.
Well, it is weird. Other people have told me they also have no problem. But I know exactly what he's talking about, because it's happened for me every time. Very frustrating.

Oh, I just saw your edit. Maybe we should never click Save Draft. I'll have to try that. Thanks.

8. Worth a try
I've used a couple different blog programs, none of them seem to like drafts much. I have a wordpress blog right now and it absolutely drives me around the bend. I had an asp one before that, which wasn't much better. I'm thinking of trying a dotnetnuke, but it's asp too, so I don't know if it would be any better. I write in Word, then clear formatting, and it usually works okay.

5. New Diary makes a new diary
You click that to start. After you're done with your entry, you click Preview Diary. If it's the way you want it, then you click Publish Diary. That's it.

You sound like you're saving a draft to come back to later, without publishing first, and I've got no idea how you'd do that. You either edit or publish, as far as I've ever seen.
