Experts doubt credibility of JFK terror plot
Edited on Wed Jun-06-07 06:48 AM by EV_Ares
NEW YORK (AFP) - An alleged plot to blow up fuel tanks and pipelines at New York's JFK airport had little chance of success, according to safety experts, who have questioned whether the plot ever posed a real threat. US authorities said Saturday they had averted an attack that could have resulted in "unfathomable damage, deaths, and destruction," and charged four alleged Islamic radicals with conspiracy to cause an explosion at the airport.

But according to the experts, it would have been next to impossible to cause an explosion in the jet fuel tanks and pipeline. Furthermore, the plotters seem to have lacked the explosives and financial backing to carry out the attack.

Neal Sonnett, a former federal prosecutor, told the New York Times there was also a danger in overstating how serious or sophisticated a plot really was.

"There unfortunately has been a tendency to shout too loudly about such cases," he said. "To the extent that you over-hype a case, you create fear and paranoia," he said.

The New York Times on Sunday pointedly avoided giving much coverage to the alleged plot, devoting only a brief on its front page continued on the local section, despite the story breaking in the early afternoon on Saturday.

1. JFK terror plot another distraction
brought to you by Rove & Co, to coincide with debates, so that Dems would look weak and pukes would have something to crow about. Who cares if it is exposed as a fraud now? The public has a short memory, and will only remember the scare headlines. Somewhere, in the bowels of the WH and FBI, is a filing cabinet, filled with terror plots, waiting to be "exposed" when the situation gets sticky for Bushco. They simply pull one out and use it, sort of like the tabloids use UFO and Bigfoot stories as filler when the latest celebrity scandal doesn't take up a full page.

3. Well she was appointed to the AG spot by Bush from a quick search I done
so if the shrub patteren holds, more then likely she is one of Jerry's gifted law students. Another one of those 30%.

4. Her bio looks legitimate
She evidently really wants to keep her job, so she'll read the script the way Rove wrote it.

5. I'd say this "terror plot"
had about as much chance of success as the one that was foiled last month where the pizza delivery jihadists planned to attack Fort Dix.

:silly:

6. Yeah, you are so right and don't forget the ones in Florida, when was
that? Those people were found out to be nothing more than wannabes. They had no intellect or ways of pulling off anything but Bush got the terror threat and potential attack out there on the news with his news media.
