Can you believe Novak & the post are still running with this after it has been proven she was covert.

He should be called before an investigative committee.

Republican Rep. Peter Hoekstra could hardly believe what he heard on television Friday as he watched a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing. Rep. Henry Waxman, the Democratic committee chairman, said his statement had been approved by the CIA director, Michael Hayden. That included the assertion that Valerie Plame Wilson was a covert CIA operative when her identity was revealed.

As House intelligence committee chairman when Republicans controlled Congress, Hoekstra had tried repeatedly to learn Plame's status from the CIA but got only double talk from Langley. Waxman, 67, the 17-term congressman from Beverly Hills, may be a bully and a partisan. But he is no fool who would misrepresent the director of central intelligence. Waxman was correctly quoting Hayden. But Hayden, in a conference with Hoekstra yesterday, still did not answer whether Plame was covert under the terms of the Intelligence Identities Protection Act.

in order to keep some doubt alive.

They need that doubt.

Doubt allows them to spin it as a witch-hunt by those hoping to harm Bush and his policies. Poor Libby, a victim of a partisan witch hunt.

5. Bottom line: He lied to Federal Authorities

They can put whatever else they choose into the mix (and they will), but Scooter lied.

It's amazing to watch the "righteous" howl about it. "He lied!" was the foundation of Impeachment proceedings for Bill Clinton. All one has to do is ask a Con about Impeaching Clinton over a blowjob and they'll tell you it was because..."He lied about it!"

But, Scooter? No such luck because, apparently, Scooter should never have even been questioned and given the opportunity to lie because...there was no underlying crime. :eyes: WTF!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

So, here's a question for the Cons: If there was no underlying crime, why did Scooter lie to Federal authorities?
