What do you say to repubs who twice voted for w who now hate him?
There seems to be thousands of them now, all the angry republican former bush lovers, where do they all come from, where do they all belong?

My own brother is one, and his daughter goes to Iraq next month to drive a truck for the Army, and he's so disgusted with bush he can't even discuss it.

Just look at last night's repub game show extravaganza, it's now cool to pile on bush and bash him, they've broken st. reagan's rule, more and more repubs are turning on bush, calling him a traitor, not right wing enough, ungrateful to those who brung him, a liar even for heaven's sake!

So what do you say to morans who once bragged about bush, boasted about voting for him twice, and now wail and gnash their teeth flat in extravagant, petulant betrayal displays?

Where's your W bumper sticker now? LOL

Anyone who voted for the chimpenfuhrer twice deserves ridicule now that they do not support him. These people got suckered.

Let's send them a whole box of traditional marriage, religious orthodoxy, support our troops, and America Love it or Leave it and
hope it solves whatever problems they have, unless of course they used Vioxx, a Ford Explorer with Firestone tires, worked in the Sago mine,
or their Pets had some tainted pet food thanks to the Bush administration, or perhaps they lived in the white section of New Orleans and still got hit by the Katrina hurricane.

7. Okay, repentance is the first step
Followed by an attempt to undo or ameliorate the harm you caused, and a resolve not to do it again. Those are the principles, now what concrete actions are you, repentant voter for Bush, going to take to repair some of the damage your choice inflicted on the country? And do you plan to vote Republican again?

Otherwise, all the wailing and gnashing of teeth is just so much window dressing, and not to be taken seriously.

13. They're Bush's 'base' so you have to quote the Bible to them
Edited on Wed Jun-06-07 09:50 AM by EVDebs
And regarding Iraq (and the Middle East in general)

Luke 9 : 5 "And as for those who do not receive you, as you go out from that city, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them." http://bible.cc/luke/9-5.htm

and Matthew 10 : 14 "Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet." http://bible.cc/matthew/10-14.htm

Withdrawal to areas over there that actually receive the message is biblically REQUIRED now. Don't Gen Boykin et al read their Bibles ? The US military should be doing some 'dust shaking' right about now in Kuwait and Qatar etc where we were 'received'.

why didn't these idiots listen to us?

because of their pride and arrogance, not because they love Bush. None of that has changed. They really thought they had it all over us.
now they want to keep their position of leadership by apologizing. Fuck them.

In other words, I reach out to them.

27. Welcome to our side of the barricades
This is war, people. We're going to need all the help we can get to win.

Winning shall be defined as Bush and Cheney impeached and removed from office, the Bill of Rights and constitutional checks and balances restored, the Iraq war/occupation ended, the war on terror revamped with definable goals and measurable standards of success and failure and neoconservatism buried with a stake through its heart.

We can't afford not to do that. We're not going to do that being smug and condescending toward repentant sinners.

30. Say "Welcome back to the real world ... Now help us clean up this mess. Vote Democratic"
We need to change minds, even though saying 'I told you so' might be our first thought.

Every time we convert one Repub to Democrat we win twice. We not only substract one from the Republican column, but we add one to our column. We should not be satisfied with just subtracting one from the Republican column.

As our majority grows, the mandate to change things for the better becomes larger and the mess will be easier to clean up, and getting rid of the people who brought us this disaster will become easier.

33. My neighbors voted for * twice because they have a granddaughter in the military.
They came over two nights ago and boy are they singing a different tune. All I could say to them was that they had been lied too and that they had to vote for a Democrat if they wanted to get us out of this mess.

They really don't know much, they just know something is wrong. I also suggested if they want to know what's really going on they should start reading Democratic Underground and Daily KOS. Told them they would be shocked if they found out how dirty these guys really are.

They'd never even heard of the oil/revenue sharing agreements. I explained it to them and told them it was proof that it was a war for oil.

Today I forwarded the article about macular degeneration from this site. She has it and it will get him to DU.

If they have email FORWARD A DU ARTICLE THAT RELATES TO THEM. It doesn't have to be a political article. The idea is to get them to our site. Hopefully it will peak their interest and they will start reading on their own.

I know some of these people too, and their disgust with Bush is not translating into disgust with the Republicans.

They need more cognitive dissonance with the whole party. You could possibly remind them of the rubber stamp support the GOP congress gave Bush, which is pretty good evidence a Republican successor would do the same on corruption and war at the very least.

Of course some republicans like the religious right are upset that Bush wasn't more of a fascist asshole.

46. Depends
If they're just incredibly stupid, education might work.

If they're just selfish jackasses who voted for him because they hate paying their fair share of taxes or they think Merca oughta go kick some ass, there's not much point in trying to convert. The minute the danger to their pocketbook is over, they'll go right back to voting for corrupt Republicans.

I have said to one person "You're a few thousand lives too late."

Maybe I just want to drive home the fact that this wasn't a silly argument over who won the World Series 26 years ago--there were real life-and-death issues at stake. These people treated it like a junior high class president election.

That covers a lot of people. Those are the ones I had in mind when I wrote that. For them, the only reason Bush is a failure is because his efforts didn't work, not because there's something fundamentally wrong with invading and occupying a country just to kill people and take their stuff.
