1. That's probably an accurate assessment

But I don't see how it changes anything. Of course American is going to lose interest in and probably awareness of Iraq after we pull our troops out of there, and of course the Iraqi people are going to continue caring about their nation. But the question is whether or not us staying in Iraq has any benefit; and for me at least it's hard to see what value it could have.
