6. I like Gore/Edwards, I don't care what they say about 2 southerners |
|
It would right 2 wrongs in my eyes and imagine what their passion for people would do for the US and the world.

12. Uh... Gore/Clark WOULD be two Southerners. |
|
Edited on Wed Jun-06-07 06:15 PM by Clark2008
In fact, it would be Tennessee/Arkansas instead of Arkansas/Tennessee.

14. I know, my comment is a reflection of when Gore was cruising for a |
|
date to the presidential ball and Edwards was pooh-poohed as being (among other things) a southerner, too.

7. if i had been a Green Party voter |
|
in 2000, I would shoot myself, if I had voted for Nader. Look how far the world is behind because, Nader, wouldn't mind his own business, and worry about car safety. What a putz. When I think of all lost ground. Nader take all that green Republican money and stuff yourself with it. And, yes, our guy, Al, makes a profile worth striking a coin for.

8. I've often thought so too. |

And I also think it's a face that would look GREAT on Mount Rushmore. http://www.cafepress.com/scarebaby/658010

9. I'm cautious of the looks thing |
|
there's something very creepy to me about the thought of where our ideals of beauty/handsomeness come from - so often it's related to race, and to gendered notions of power.

13. I just think he belongs on a coin as our president... |
|
He's got his faults, in his looks and the way he is, and the first time I saw this my mind went right to George Washington, who also wasn't perfect but was passionate about doing what was right. I wonder if they chose this pose exactly for this kind of tease?

15. It's just so .... white male |
|
which is I guess why a person might associate it with the history of our nation.
I am just very aware that if he were a woman of color, nobody would even think to say "ohhh, that face belongs on a presidential coin."
I just have an uncomfortable reaction to the thought process as a whole, knowing the history of why our country has been led by white males, always. Saying he looks just like the previous ones have looked, I'm not so sure that's a good thing. I don't know if a lack of diversity is something we should be impressed by.
Not that it's a strike AGAINST him, I'm not saying that, but I'm not happy about it being a mark FOR him.
