5. Beer & cheese. Cheese and beer. You mean, there are *other* food groups?
:hi:

This looks pretty bad. Batten down the hatches, Wisconsin.

8. Don't forget the deep fried cheese curds
and a Violent Femmes mix tape. :hi: I miss Wisconsin. I grew up in Janesville. It's the only place on earth I've ever been asked "Are you goin' out drinkin' tonight?" What a hilarious question. No, it's not, "Are you going to a movie or going bowling?" it's "going out drinkin'"

15. miss wisconsin food
... i grew up about 2 hours north of chippewa falls and still have family back there, and lived in m'waukee for 20 years. i do miss the fish fries. there hain't a fish fry anywhere to be found in denver.

i hope that this storm blows over (although my folks tell me they could use a good bit of rain - just avoid the whole tornado thing, eh?)

18. bought out by miller
have no fear, leinie's is safe. i might not _like_ the fact that it was bought out by miller, but it does add a degree of protection to the brand...

now if steven's point brewery goes down, i'll be very put out...

20. yep... and it isn't the same...
i can't remember when it happened, but it was quite a while ago.

point "special" (blue label) was the cheap beer of choice in hayward in the mid 80s. looking back, i never knew how good the stuff was for a cheap beer until i tried things like "milwaukee's best" or "hamm's" (egads... taste buds never forgave me.)

9. My daughter's flying in to Milwaukee from Savannah, GA @ 4p.m.
and we're on pins and needles hoping she gets in before all of this hits. We already have been warned about tornados and large hail this evening (we're in Appleton, 100 miles north of Milwaukee). It's been very windy all day sort of as a prelude. I just want her safe on the ground. Her and her Daddy (he's picking her up) can go tuck in somewhere safe until it passes.

23. Hey! I'm in Appleton too
I've mostly been hearing about high wind advisories (gusts up to 45mph), though they closed the schools early in Green Bay.

25. Looks like everything is still in the western part of the state.
I think she'll be okay, but if you're like me, you'll be checking "flight status" and weather radar until her plane lands.

There are school closings running across the TV screen in advance of the storms here in NE Wisconsin.

16. SE ND is under a watch also.
I think I am fascinated by tornados and other bad weather from having been in one when I was not quite 3. Memories of destruction down the block.

all across the northern part of Wisconsin.

We will all be together in hoping everyone comes out OK.

The storms are working further eastward, a long anticipated watch was declared for the rest of Wisconsin about an hour ago.

Severe weather capable of producing Tornados will be moving through the state until well after midnight.
