I have a problem with Christian conservatives who INSIST that we continue to reproduce...
and not expect there to be, with a growing population:

- More crime
- More disease
- More conflict
- More hungry people
- More carbon emissions
- More depression
- More corruption/power struggles
- More unexpected pregnancies

But they insist that we keep on reproducing, without cause, because it's Jesus' wish.

4. Sure, but when the Bible was written there were fewer people and they
tended to die really young - you were supposed to keep making babies to repalce all the ones that didn't make it.

7. A few years back I was working a camp
with 150 6-10 year olds. I was ready to spend the money I made working the camp to get a vasectomy. That was the most frustrating experience of my life.

10. In theory, but I'm certainly not proof of that.
Both my babies were conceived using a variety of birth control methods. And, as the daughter and granddaughter of nurses, I was RAISED knowing about birth control and how to use it properly - they just fail on me for some reason. Even my doctor calls me Fertile Myrtle. LOL.

Of course, after I give birth (tomorrow!!) with the second, hubby is going to go get snipped so that we don't have to rely on birth control failing again on this educated woman. :)

8. My problem is that this view...
My problem is that this view is shared by our health insurance "industry".

Can't get it up?
We'll give you Viagra, mega-erections.
Go forth and multiply, on our dime.

Want birth control, you hussy?
Pay up.

9. Gee, I don't remember Jesus saying anything
about having children.

But as far as I'm concerned, screw it. I'm here..I got born. Nobody else needs to!

11.  If you don't have children, only conservative Christians will
have them. Anyway, the population of the United States is projected to increase by another 100,000,000 by 2050, mostly by immigration.

15. some of my more liberal athiest friends
grew up in Christian conservative households. Religion and politics are not genetic - education is more important than breeding.

16. 4 of my students are currently pregnant.
Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 05:02 PM by BeHereNow
2 sophomores, 2 seniors.
I consider their unborn children the victims of
ignorance and the culture of American Idols.
I pray for miscarriages daily.
Between the four of them, they could not write a paragraph,
much less a coherent sentence.

What future can they, or their unborn children possibly face?
Grim, to say the least.
