They know who my child is with...but the question remains as to where (Detectives say Mexico now, but where is the question)and if she went because she wanted to. You know...nothing really let me know this was coming.

She has been gone for 4 weeks tomorrow. Detectives have confirmed to me that she is in Mexico based off a message that she sent to me on 5/14/07. In her message she says I love you and miss you so much... so my deepest fear is that if she tells these people that she wants to come home...what will they do to her...I don't know these people or what they are capable of.

I can't tell you that I know this kid...he is supposed to be a 16 yr old...illegal from Mexico...which I guess if he is in Mexico now...with MY CHILD...he is no longer illegal... I have no proof of his age...he was working construction in las vegas.

If he walked right up to me...I wouldn't know him. His family knows where he has her..but for some reason the police have not been able to get them to say. It's really unfortunate...that they can't force them to talk. They did however say he took her on a plane to mexico...of course at his point I don't trust anything this family has to say.

Unfortunately....they are treating her like a runaway and they don't do amber alerts for "runaways" as they have titled it. I on the on the other hand am not certain that is the case. She didn't take anything with her. The detectives are not in contact, but the missing and exploited children folks are...and also I contacted the American Embassy for some assistance, but they said with out an address or a name of this kids...parents..they can't really do anything unless someone sees her.

Christina is a CHILD. Even if she is a "runaway," she does not have the maturity to make a rational decision to leave home and therefore must be treated as a missing child.

But I agree with your conclusion that she's not a runaway; she could have been emotionally manipulated by someone. To me, that's the equivalent of kidnapping.

Are there specific routes from LV to the border that are often used for travel to Mexico? The police department should be spreading posters along those routes, looking for any tips. The state patrol should be able to do this fairly efficiently since they have people all over the state that could receive faxes and post them.

Can your phone company trace calls? If she calls you again, would they be able to pinpoint the location of the call, even if it's just the name of a town?

I feel so helpless ... I can't even begin to imagine the anguish you're feeling. My thoughts are with you and Christina.

Christina is a competitive cheerleader, a member of the National Junior Honor Society and with that said...I was completely blindsighted by this.

As for the ridiculous response from authorities...that comes not only from the Mexican ones...also the locals. I just think its a way to get a file of someones desk. I hate to think this way...but, its how I feel to be honest.

Just don't let up and keep people's attention on this and then something just needs to fall into place and there will be a happy ending. It must be horrible to be in a position where every instinct is to DO something, when you are limited in the things you can do.

All you can really do is maximize the chances of the people being in a position to find her to do so. It sounds like there are some leads there, If they aren't allowed to go cold you should see progress soon.

I know nothing but what the web site says about this org,
but what (IMO) you need is an advocate w/a badge - a case
worker, social worker - someone who can throw their weight
around and get something done - in particular getting the
16 year old boy's family to cough up some info.

You mentioned your daughter had a mood change a couple of weeks
before she went missing; I'm sure police have spoken to your
daughter's boyfriend.

Something obviously triggered this event that made your daughter vulnerable.
BTDT (been there done that) w/my daughter, too. Every night
she was "missing" (she went down the rabbit hole) I looked to
the stars or moon and imagined her looking up, too. Now, she's
made me a grandma...I wish the same for you.

Don't lose hope, you are going to prevail and your family will be together again. I just know it.

Statistically speaking (and sorry to bring this up) the odds are in your favor if you know for certain that your child was still alive 48 hours after their abduction (or manipulation, or whatever the situation was that led to their being AWOL). The more time that goes by that they are known to be still alive, the higher the odds that they'll make it home safely.

I really don't want to go into the in-depth explanation of why that is, so I'll just give a hint: if you're a really hardcore criminal-type who acts with the most evil intentions, you tend to not want to get caught at what you're doing, and you view your victim as a potential witness to your crime. I'll let you fill in the details of that scenario if you care to, but what's important to remember is that if the victim makes it past the first couple days, THEY USUALLY END UP OKAY. And it sounds like you know she's made it through the first 48 hours, as I say, statistically speaking that is a HUGE positive for the outcome.

I know it's easy for me to say, but do your best not to utterly loose your marbles while you're waiting out this situation. It's important that you keep your wits about you right now and not lose yourself in despair. Overwhelming grief and fear are gonna seem like the most rational responses/emotions, but remember this: they are actually your (and your lovely daughter's) mortal enemies at this time. You must keep yourself in a state ready to ACT QUICKLY, calmly, rationally, and forcefully upon any developments to the situation and/or any of the actors involved. You will not be able to do that if you are overcome by fear and grief, remember that Rosalie.

Unfortunately, those actors include (hopefully a very small minority of) authorities you may run into who may seem callous, suspicious of YOU, or maddeningly possessed of "c.y.a.", or "pass-the-buck" mentalities. The best way to get these types of people working for you instead of against you is to project an air of calm authority as you ask them for their supervisors name. As much as you probably feel on the verge of hysteria at this moment, don't show it to anyone outside those closest to you, and even then, try to keep a handle on it as best you can. Remember at all times what I'm telling you here: YOU WILL HAVE YOUR DAUGHTER BACK. No matter what it takes, you ARE GOING TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN. Believe in it with all your heart, and you will make it reality.

A few more things: try not to spend much time, if any, alone, but rather, keep company with the SMARTEST, most LOGICAL people you know, the one's who are most likely pour their heart and soul into coming up with IDEAS and PLANS for action. What you want to avoid are the people who (however sweet their intentions) think their responsibility is to commiserate about how terrible this whole situation is, for they are the one's likely to fill your head with 'oh my god, rosalie, WHAT IF <fill in terrible thing here> HAPPENS!' scenarios for you to ponder. You don't need anyone to confirm for you that this situation is terrible, do you now? No, you need HELP SOLVING THE PROBLEM AT HAND. You need rational, intelligent minds working together. You can get her back, I'm telling you, you CAN. You just have to figure out HOW, and then make that into reality. You can do this...

And while you do, do keep us posted, but only if you REALLY have the time!

One more thing: you needn't thank us all individually at this time!

I'm sure we'd all rather you invest your time on finding your baby-girl.

The reason I remember this case is because my mother was the Raeford newspaper editor who reported on it and I remember at the time thinking "everyone is going to forget about this girl" and even thought of going to Mexico to try to find her myself. I couldn't have done it, of course, no money and I probably would have ended up dead. But I KNEW somebody should do something.

Everything eventually turned out all right. Dana DID try to get away on her own and was being held against her will. If you google, you can probably find more articles. The guy was also being protected by his family, if I remember correctly.

I post this to show you that things will turn out all right eventually and maybe some things can be learned from Dana's case. Maybe you can contact some of the people involved and ask for guidance, such as the family or the Hoke County sheriff's department.

RAEFORD, N.C. (AP) -- A girl who was abducted in 1999 when she was 11 was headed home Wednesday after contacting U.S. authorities in Mexico.

Hoke County authorities said Dana Pevia now has two children of her own -- a 3-year-old daughter and a 3-month-old son.

Dana went to the U.S. Consulate General's office in Guadalajara last week. Consulate officials contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which contacted the Hoke County sheriff's office.

"I always felt like she would come back if she could," said her grandmother, Oneda Pevia.

Warrants have been issued charging Hector Majarro Frausto, 22, with kidnapping and statutory rape. Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said Frausto was the Pevias' neighbor when Dana disappeared and used the family's telephone to call his family in Mexico.

Neither the family nor investigators know details of Dana's life in Mexico. Peterkin said Dana had been living about two hours away from Guadalajara.

Dana's mother, Wanda Pevia, last saw her daughter when she walked to her school bus stop on June 4, 1999.

"Every time I'd watch TV and they'd find a body, I would pray it wasn't her," Wanda Pevia said.

"Many times I've thought of suicide," she said through tears. "But I knew I had to be here for her when she came home."

Sheriff's officials notified the family on March 18 that Dana had been found, and Wanda Pevia said she had talked to her daughter every day since then.

These days, 15-year-old Dana Pevia is visiting with old family members and new relatives she has never even seen."Every day, I was thinking about here, my family," she said.

The whole time, Pevia was in Mexico. Police say she was taken there by Hector Frausto when he realized he got her pregnant. At the time, she was 11 years old. In June 1999, Pevia was in the sixth-grade and waiting at the bus stop when they say Frausto came and took her.

Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said Frausto left her in Mexico with his family after six months. Pevia said she and her daughter were held against their will and would try to escape. "I'd go to different houses for help and they would find me and take me back to their house," Pevia said.

Pevia finally escaped and went to the U.S. Consulate for help. Over the weekend, Frausto was arrested in North Carolina. On Tuesday, he made his first court appearance. His supporters say he is getting a bad rap. "She willingly left and everything she knew she'd done is wrong and she shouldn't put it on him," said Jamie Wright, Frausto's friend.

One woman, later identified as the mother of Frausto's newest son, said Dana lied about her age when the two were together. "They've got him made out to be a terrible monster. That's not the person he is," said Karen West, Frausto's friend.

Pevia said she is trying to put Frausto behind her. "What he's going through, I'm happy for him. It's what he deserves," she said.

Now a mother of two, Pevia hopes to soon return to the sixth-grade. Frausto is on a suicide watch at the jail. He is being held in jail under $1 million bond.

I have received a myspace message dated 6/10 at 330PM. Christina wants to come home...and that she loves and missing me so much. Now I have a new fear...so many things going through my mind...what's gonna happen when she tells these people she wants to come home??? or is really her writing..??? She didn't give me any details as to where she is or how she utilized the internet...but, i spoke with the Missing / Exploited children folks...they gave me instructions on what to do...

I let her know...not trust anyone in that household..cause obviously they are not your typical people otherwise they would have contacted the authorities already...Dear Lord in heaven...please give my daughter the strength and guidance to take the right steps when reaching out for help.
