Greenpeace delivers message to G8 on global warming, police ride on top of inflatable

http://imgred.com/

Eleven inflatable boats carrying 24 Greenpeace volunteers, sped towards the G8 summit. Chased by police, two boats entered the exclusion zone around the Heilingendamm summit, where world leaders are due to discuss climate change later today. The police stopped some of the inflatables, knocking two of them over (three Greenpeace folk were injured and are on their way to hospital now).

The boats were delivering a petition to the G8 - the world's worst
polluters and the ones who can do most to avert catastrophic climate change. Our petition urged the G8 leaders to take decisive action on climate change; we're asking the seven members that have ratified Kyoto to ignore Bush's latest round of non-committal posturing and commit themselves to action. They must agree to binding commitments that will lead to cuts in global greenhouse gas emissions of 50 per cent by 2050, compared to 1990 levels.

4. Yes. It looked like a large military ship that stopped them. KO showed the crash
on his show tonight. The ship pulled right in front of the Greeneace inflatable to stop it. The inflatable was going too fast to stop on a dime after the ship turned into it to stop them.:(

6. Supposedly only bruising
but it looked like it could have been lethal if luck were not on their side. I was amazed to see Greenpeace so in your face like that.

2. You have the leaders of the eight most powerful countries in the world all together

and then you have motorized rubber boats charging at them full bore. It is a wonder they all didn't get blown clean out of the water. How stupid, IMO. Why wouldn't someone think at least one of them would be carrying bombs...or biological material. I sympathize with Greenpeace but this is just plain dumb..

3. KO had this on his show tonight. The ship that stopped the inflatables was huge by comparison.
Heaven forbid any citizens should get anywhere NEAR the almighty 'world leaders.' :eyes: What a bunch of crap.

7. Something is wrong when
the leaders of the so called free world have to huddle away from everyone else. They must be thieves and murderers

This was extreme behavior.

5. oops, looks like I cross posted...
If Greenpeace actually did violate the no go zone, then they should have known this wouldn't end well, still, plowing over them is a little extreme, no? I mean they were rubber boats, what the hell were they expecting to find on them?
