Roll Call: Kucinich Supporters
This was posted at DailyKos and at my blog All Over the Board:

Cross posted from Daily Kos:

We know that we're under represented on a what is said to be a progressive blog site. Perhaps it's a good idea to see who's who and start planning for the day that Daily Kos comes around! :)

rjones2818's diary :: ::

I start from the point that we are all citizens of the world. I don't support one government for the world. To me, that chance was lost with the death of Alexander the Great. I look to Alexander for a basis of how I look at how the people of the world should interact:

THE OATH

"Now that the wars are coming to an end, I wish you to prosper in peace. May all mortals from now on live like one people in concord and for mutual advancement. Consider the world as your country, with laws common to all and where the best will govern irrespective of tribe. I do not distinguish among men, as the narrow-minded do, both among Greeks and Barbarians. I am not interested in the descendance of the citizens or their racial origins. I classify them using one criterion: their virtue. For me every virtuous foreigner is a Greek and every evil Greek worse than a Barbarian. If differences ever develop between you never have recourse to arms, but solve them peacefully. If necessary, I should be your arbitrator. You must not consider God like an autocratic despot, but as a common Father of all; so your behavior may resemble the life siblings have in a family. On my part I should consider all equals, white or blacks, and wish you all to be not only subjects of the Commonwealth, but participants and partners. As much as this depends on me, I should try to bring about what I promised. The oath we made over tonight’s libations hold onto as a Contract of Love".

Some will argue that this wasn't didn't actually get said by the great king, but I'll argue that it doesn't matter. The Oath is perhaps the finest call to unity that has ever been made, whoever wrote it.

A second foundation is the idea of a social contract between a government and it's citizens. The basic theory is set forth in the book On the Social Contract by Jean-Jaques Rousseau, which describes a way of implementing such a contract. I believe that governments have social contracts with citizens. Dennis Kucinich showed he backed the idea, perhaps not with that in mind, in his handling of the (what is now) Cleveland Public Power crisis:

Cleveland's's publicly owned electric utility served an all-time high 59,664 residents and businesses in 1963. However, at the same time, city officials and others lost sight of the benefits of public power. Service declined and the municipal light plant began to purchase electricity from other sources to meet customer demands. As a result of the operational problems, the utility quite producing power and nearly went out of business. In 1977, then Mayoral candidate Dennis Kucinich ran on a platform to prevent the sale of municipal power to CEI. Only the wisdom of Cleveland's citizens, who voted 2-to-1 in February 1979, against selling their municipal power system, kept public power alive. The public utility chose to purchase electrical power from low cost power sources, and to concentrate on distributing this power to its customers with the best possible service. By 1983, a new attitude about public power permeated the City of Cleveland. The utility was given a new identity . . . Cleveland Public Power, to reflect the public's decision to keep the city in the electric utility business. Using its right to purchase power from a variety of sources, CPP began providing its customers with power at rates which were 15, 20 and even 25 percent or more below CEI rates by the late 1980's. Just like Cleveland, CPP was making a comeback.
For more on this use Google or go to http://www.cpp.org/cppinfohist.cfm">Cleveland Public Power History. This is the move that showed that Dennis stands for his pricipals for the citizens of Cleveland, and I belive for this country.

We know him now for his being a leader against the Iraq War, having not voted for the resolution to go to war and voting against the supplementals; we know him for calling out Big Oil, Big Government and the military industrial complex in his speech http://kucinich.us/node/4547">The Truth About Iraq and Oil; we know him for supporting Universal Single Payer Not-for-profit health care; we know him for being a strong friend of labor, being a member of the AFL-CIO; we know him for his opposition to NAFTA and CAFTA, and for bilateral trade agreements with worker protections; we know him for being an environmentalist, having propsed the Works Green Administration; and we know him for bringing articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney in HB 333.

We know that Dennis is the true progressive in this race. I know that I support Dennis Kucinich in his run for the White House, and know that he'll be a great president for all of the citizens of this country.

Here's how folks in New Hampshire reacted to him:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh9yXaTPhts">Kucinich Wows New Hampshire Democratic Convention

I support Dennis Kucinich. Shouldn't you?

Go Dennis!

10. Can I say that I support him too?
But like a Cubs fan I will have to have someone to rout for in the World Series.
But if through some miracle Denis could break through the money and power barrier and get even close to the nomination I would sell all my goods and donate it to his campaign.
He is just the kind of populist this country needs to shake it to the foundations and return us to a true democracy where fairness and justice is the norm.
But don't hate me because I am such a pessimist, it has been a long six years.

15. Dennis Kucinich is the only real Democrat in the race. The rest are
all lighter shades of bush.

Dennis is the only candidate with a plan for universal health care that can actually provide universal health care.

Dennis is the only candidate in the race with a workable plan to get the US out of Iraq, HR1234

And Dennis is the only candidate willing to renounce an American Empire and to exhault an American democratic republic.

It's with some saddness that I say that if Gore enters I will support him, because the truth is that Dennis has the better policy initiatives between the two. Gore comes close, but Dennis is the real thing.

28. He speaks for me
Update: 63,333 folks have voted.
http://www.usalone.com/cheney_impeachment.php
Dennis Kucinich's HR Bill 333 to impeach VP cheney still stands at over 99.34%.

I find this fascinating considering a similar poll here in the DU could go little higher than 90%

If you have not voted there...see the link? This poll has a feature that automatically lets you send your thoughts about this to your local paper and more importantly: to your local Representatives. I like clicking over there periodically and reading what our fellow Americans are posting to their own local Reps and papers.
Thank You for voting. :patriot: ...Oh and be sure to tell a friend about this.

"I was watching the debates last night, and while I don't agree with a lot he has to say, I do have to say I was impressed with his conviction." After that I will believe every "my republican such and such has turned" post here at DU.

I came to the Dem party in 2004 (I did vote for Gore in 2000), though I had been protesting the war as a repuke (I really was apolitical up to that point and now know I was never a repuke really) soon after it started. Dean brought me in, Kucinich just wowed me. I've gone so left now it's crazy.

53. Kooch is the ONLY Democratic Candidate!
Dennis Kucinich is NOT afraid of losing large single source contributions (CEO).
He is free to speak for those Americans who must Work for a Living.
THIS is the voice that needs to HEARD in the USA and the World!

Dennis Kucinich is the ONLY candidate who has a Clear & Consistent position on the illegal and immoral Iraq Occupation.

Dennis Kucinich is the ONLY candidate who has presented a Clear and Consistent position on Wars of Aggression, and the need to JOIN the International Community on Land Mine Bans and the International Criminal Court.

Dennis Kucinich is the ONLY candidate who has a Clear & Consistent position on Single Payer Universal HealthCare.

Dennis Kucinich is the ONLY candidate who has a Clear & Consistent position on "Free Trade".

Dennis Kucinich is the ONLY candidate who has a Clear & Consistent position on Election Reform and BBV. (Paper Ballots hand counted locally).

Dennis Kucinich is the ONLY candidate who has given Clear Voice to the ISSUES that are critical in America today.
I understand why the MSM and the establishment Democrats are afraid of his voice. He has pledged to change the status quo in DC, and would turn off The Money Machine that runs this country today.

DK has my confidence, my money, my vote, my time, and my support!

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

He's the only candidate that seems to be free from corporate beholdence other than Mike Gravel.

74. I'm right here.
I guess you could say I have high standards, and I like to hold politicians accountable for meeting them.

Kucinich does so consistently, and has my consistent support.

that's probably why he won't be. But we can give it our best and try to get him elected.

78. so far
he's the only one who says what he means and means what he says. I do have other candidates in mind, but if they don't step in I'm all for Kucinich. In fact, I wouldn't be disappointed even if he beat my candidates. I just want someone worthy of the position to get it.

80. The only candidate with honest integrity on either side.
Supported & voted for him in '04 and will in '08. :loveya:

Corporate politics is marginalizing him BECAUSE HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH & SUPPORTS THE AVERAGE WORKING (& UNEMPLOYED) AMERICAN!
They cannot let his message get much play because Americans would line up behind him quickly & solidly.

I pray his message is miraculously broadcast widely to the American people.
He's our only hope right now. A true Patriot! :patriot:

88. You can vote for whomever the media claims is "most electable".
I'm going to vote for whom I believe is the best for the job- Dennis Kucinich.

I voted for him in the 2004 primary, and I'll vote for him again.

94. Jumping in late....
I'll say first that I'm a Gore-aholic and if he jumps in, that's where I have to go. But if not, Kucinich is my guy. I didn't really know much about him before, but the more I see and hear from him the more I like him and he most closely matches my views on the issues.

Unfortunately, my support for him may not end up going very far given the nature of the Iowa Caucus system. I've never attended the caucuses, but I've been doing a little reading up on how it works and if my precinct doesn't have enough support for Dennis (which I'm quite sure it won't), then my support won't gain him anything, which makes me frustrated. :-(
