Paris Hilton Ordered to Return to Court
Published: 6/7/07, 10:29 PM EDT
By LINDA DEUTSCH
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Paris Hilton's release from jail may be short lived. Hours after she was sent home under house arrest Thursday for an undisclosed medical condition, the judge who put her in jail for violating her reckless-driving probation ordered her into court to decide if she should go back behind bars.

Hilton must report to court at 9 a.m. Friday, Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini told The Associated Press.

"My understanding is she will be brought in in a sheriff's vehicle from her home," Parachini said.

The celebrity inmate was sent home from the Los Angeles County jail's Lynwood lockup shortly after 2 a.m. in a stunning reduction to her original 45-day sentence. She had reported to jail Sunday night after attending the MTV Movie Awards in a strapless designer dress.

She was ordered to finish her sentence under house arrest, meaning she could not leave her four-bedroom, three-bath home in the Hollywood Hills until next month.

21. don't forget klonipin lorazepam & choral hydrate
She's not sleeping at night in the pokey. Choral hydrate found in Marilyn Monroe and Anna Nicole autopies.... powerful stuff. Hard to get in the slammer though.

7. On an earlier thread I saw a suggestion that the sherrif did it.
That would fit the "is someone meddling" question. I mean, sure, Paris saw someone for the 'medical issue'. If the judge doesn't agree with what went down he can toss her butt back into jail. Perhaps he shall.

19. Just watch for the sheriff's department. See how soon they roll out
the new fleet of squad cars, SWAT wagons and/or helicopters.

The article says the judge is considering charging Sheriff Baca with contempt

8. The City Attorney thinks it was Sheriff Baca.. it WASN'T the Judge
City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo complained that he learned of her release the same way as almost everyone else - through news reports.

Then, late Thursday, he filed a petition questioning whether Sheriff Lee Baca should be held in contempt of court for releasing Hilton - and demanding that she be held in custody. Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer's decision to haul Hilton back to the courtroom came shortly after.

What did Hilton's people give that flaming idiot?

The judge's order was explicit that she could ONLY do jail time, no other alternative.

28. Rocky is just grandstanding...
and yes he does have his eye on higher office.

Baca is not going to be charged w/ anything since once people are put into the custody of the sheriff, he is free to do what he deems proper.
Every day in Los Angeles County, first time non violent offenders are released on house arrest, work release or 50/50 custody home detention. Had it been anyone else, you and I would never had heard about it unless they committed some horrendous crime.

Oh well, at least we don't have to pay attention to all the real things going on in this world. :evilfrown:

17. This is how we treat our rich in America. If you work really, really hard
at 5 different jobs, 7 days a week, 20 hours a day you too can...... die poor. The "Silver Spoon Elites" never have to worry about a thing.

18. Now, it sort of is. Because it illustrates what we've all been trying to say.
Some people get very special treatment, and that's why they do the things they do. They know they'll never have to face the music, the way we would. So they make decisions that never consider the consequences to everyone around them.

37. I wasn't even thinking of the substance abuse problem.
But, yes, I was thinking about Bush when I wrote it. And Libby, and Cheney, and Rumsfeld, etc. And that kind of "I'm Special because I'm white and rich" mentality trickles down and now you have that couple in the northeast who are hiding out on their 110 acre compound because they won't pay $500,000 of taxes.

You know whatever you can say about O.J. Simpson, at least his trial was loud, messy and public. And even if the verdict didn't go as expected, his reputation was gone forever. Seen him in any good movies, lately?

25. It is very important (now) for a variety of reasons:
It is interesting (and important) to watch how the justice system works when fame and fortune are involved. I don't accept that Hilton has gotten the same treatment as "plaine jane" would have (that's the article's term not mine.)

I think its potentially positive to be bringing media attention to the reality that there are two separate justice systems in the united states - one for the rich and famous and one for everyone else.

I applaud the judge and the DA for trying to treat Hilton according to the same law that I would be subject to. But as this story has unfolded we have gotten to see a lot of how the rich avoid the penalties the rest of us get, even when the judge is taking a hard line. The sheriff's department just decided to let her go. That wouldn't happen to me. The correctional department is afraid of the scrutiny they would be under while incarcerating Hilton, so they want to let her go. Also wouldn't happen to me. Some feel that deals for her almost immediate release were in the works even before her sentence was handed down. Again, something that wouldn't happen to me.

I think shining a spotlight on these failings is very important.

24. Good.
If she's let out early, it should be for the typical reasons they release early such as due to overcrowding, etc.

But the reasons why she was realeased were bullshit and sets a horrible precedence. I hope they put her back in and make her serve at least another week to ten days. After that, I'd consider it time served.

needs. No cellmate. I doubt overcroding was an issue for her release.

33. The judge will probably send her back to jail
The judge specifically ordered that she not be allowed to serve any of her term under house arrest, or have her time reduced though any work programs. She was supposed to spend every day of it locked up.

It sounds like the Sheriff released her without actually having the authority to do so.

34. I wonder if there is really over crowding in that jail.
My impression is that they had the room to put her in a cell all by herself. And she probably was in a cell all by herself. It's a bit difficult for the cell to be overcrowded all by her ultra skinny boney ass self.

36. Confined to her house? How will they make sure she doesn't leave?
Is there any prohibition on the use of alcohol and drugs? Does she have to be tested for drugs and alcohol?

Why should she be allowed to use the pool or any other facilities not available if she was in jail?
