Nominate Your Favorite Blogger - BlogJam: Blogs Review Openly left MyDD
Edited on Fri Jun-08-07 08:09 AM by EV_Ares
"71 million blogs ... some of them have to be good," reads a line at the top of the website technorati.com, a search engine geared toward blogs. Appropriately, the line is credited only to "Matt."

Whoever Matt is, he's right. Some of those 71 million toiling away have inserted themselves forcefully into American politics: Bloggers on the right gave juice to the Swift Boat attacks on Sen. John F. Kerry in the 2004 campaign and got former CBS anchor Dan Rather fired over the story about President Bush's National Guard service. Lefty bloggers have become serious players: They speak regularly with Democratic leadership and successfully pressured Democrats in Nevada to cancel a debate planned to air on the conservative Fox News.

Today, The Politico rolls out BlogJam, an ongoing project that will sketch portraits of some of the most influential or rising bloggers. We offer a little personal background along with their political leanings, killer posts and what they consider their biggest blunders.

The first two bloggers we're highlighting are both liberal white guys: Kevin Drum, the Washington Monthly's blogger, and Matt Stoller, who blogs at MyDD. (Full disclosure: I've written for the Monthly, but nobody could argue that I was paid enough to influence my opinion of it.)

These two lefties were chosen because they're fairly influential voices in the liberal blogosphere. Look for a couple of right-wingers next time -- maybe even a nonwhite woman, who knows? Send your own nominations to blogjam@politico.com.
