Must Watch Video Up Now! NBC's Andrea Mitchell Exposing Bandar Bush and BAE Connection!
Edited on Fri Jun-08-07 10:08 AM by KoKo01
It's a MUST SEE with photos of Bandar's House and even that Bush allowed Bandar to fly with 22 of his family out of the US the night after "9/11." Anyway lots of interesting stuff in that report:

Here:

BREAKING! Andrea Mitchell EXPOSES Bandar Bush Connection to BAE and Saudi Contracts

Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 06:52 PM by KoKo01
tonight on NBC! I went over to the site and her piece is not up yet on the website...But..Mitchell's report comes straight from the British "Guardian Newspaper" from today.

BAE accused of secretly paying £1bn to Saudi prince
David Leigh and Rob Evans
Thursday June 7, 2007

Guardian
The arms company BAE secretly paid Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia more than £1bn in connection with Britain's biggest ever weapons contract, it is alleged today.

A series of payments from the British firm was allegedly channelled through a US bank in Washington to an account controlled by one of the most colourful members of the Saudi ruling clan, who spent 20 years as their ambassador in the US.

It is claimed that payments of £30m were paid to Prince Bandar every quarter for at least 10 years.

It is alleged by insider legal sources that the money was paid to Prince Bandar with the knowledge and authorisation of Ministry of Defence officials under the Blair government and its predecessors. For more than 20 years, ministers have claimed they knew nothing of secret commissions, which were outlawed by Britain in 2002.

An inquiry by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) into the transactions behind the £43bn Al-Yamamah arms deal, which was signed in 1985, is understood to have uncovered details of the payments to Prince Bandar.

But the investigation was halted last December by the SFO after a review by the attorney general, Lord Goldsmith.

He said it was in Britain's national interest to halt the investigation, and that there was little prospect of achieving convictions.

Tony Blair said he took "full responsibility" for the decision.

However, according to those familiar with the discussions at the time, Lord Goldsmith had warned colleagues that British "government complicity" was in danger of being revealed unless the SFO's corruption inquiries were stopped.

The abandonment of the investigation provoked an outcry from anti-corruption campaigners, and led to the world's official bribery watchdog, the OECD, launching its own investigation.

The fresh allegations may also cause BAE problems in America, where corrupt payments to foreign politicians have been outlawed since 1977.

2. I'm more worried about how much of that money got us into Invading Iraq!
Bush had plenty of money from other sources...but Blair saying their economy depending on BAE having the Saudi's purchase war planes and that the money was payed through an account in the US for 20 years...means lots of bad stuff has been going down...that we don't even know about and was illegal here since 1977 if not in Great Britain. It's the Blair/Bush/Bandar dealing that worry me....The ENDLESSS WARS.

3. I'm shocked it was Andrea Mitchell reporting.
Perhaps she is mad at the administration for turning their backs on her friend Scooter, or perhaps NBC is making her do real reporting as penance for past indiscretions (think of how she reported that the majority of Americans want Scooter Libby pardoned (despite polls indicating the opposite).

18. Thank you but Mr Collins deserves all the credit.
I try as hard as I can to keep abreast on this scandal as I believe it leads to the blatant disenfranchisement which lead me to DU in the first place (after Ohio '04).

DU is all about sharing knowledge, isn't it?

4. Wow, just finished watching it. PEOPLE, WATCH THIS!
I just finished reading Robert Baer's "Blow the House Down" and this is reminiscent from a few scenes and characters in the book.

12. The lies from swifts had 90% more airtime from corpmedia than the serious truths in F911
Sadly, many still don't recognize the deliberateness of it all.

14. This gets nastier yet
I was looking through my old notes relating to the al Yamamah deal and came across a quote from a July 2004 DU thread titled "Defence opens in BCCI law suit."
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=694780

BCCI London general manager John Hilberry submitted afidavit to UK's Metropolitan Police & City of London Police re moneylaundering by UK politicians including Thatcher's Jeffrey Archer (ex Tory party deputy chairman; jailed for 18 months for perjury), Michael Ashcroft (ex-Tory Pary chairman, owner of Belize Bank Trust and business partner of Worldcom's Bernie Ebbers, who sold him a $100 million condo in Florida's Boca Raton) and Jonathan Aitken (Al-Yamamah arms-for oil fiasco mastermind, minister for defence procurement under John Major and subsequently jailbird - sentenced to 9 months in Belmarsh for perjury; widely involved in BAE Aerospace Saudi slush fund contracts including pimping for the Saudi royals).

Although, I don't follow the British stuff closely, I know there is a huge amount of dirt involving BAE and al Yamamah, much of which already come to the surface. For example, I have other notes which indicate the word "pimping" in that quote should probably be taken altogether literally.

Among other things, it seems possible that this BAE/Saudi business may explain why Tony Blair has sucked up to Bush quite as furiously as he has.

16. Thanks for posting this, Koko01.
I'm furious that it's now common knowledge that Bandar Bush flew numerous bin Laden family members out of the US while commercial airlines were still grounded, considering how the lying, skank republiCONS, and their enablers in the corporate media beat Michael Moore over the head for saying the very same thing in F-911.

And how nice for the Saudi princes that orders with built-in kickbacks for them are often placed with defense contractors for equipment the Saudis don't need just so the poor widdle pwinces can pad their pockets.

17. Glad to know some folks were watching it. MSNBC doesn't make it easy...with
the add they tacked on in the beginning. And, I know how most of us are about viewing adds...:grr: but the report is a must watch because we probably won't get that much coverage again...given Paris Hilton and whatever else they drag up.

BTW: CNN finally reported on this last night but the report didn't mention Riggs Bank or that the payments had gone through Riggs and that it was illegal for him to have been paid because of a 1977 law in the US. Blitzer did mention that Bandar was a friend of the Bushies and showed his palatial estate in "Aspen" but it was weak compared to NBC's report.

I hope this has legs...

Thanks for watching!
