He at no time gave a compelling defense, just a generic address to most of the claims. He did talk about the $90,000 and in a way he sort of admitted that he was supposed to give that to the Nigerian VP. It was a sting operation, he was given the money by the FBI.
He's a crook for taking it, but you have to wonder at some level what their motivations were.
