Can we have a "Sensational News Forum"? Here's another Blonde story >
Cause I'm just hooked on this junk.

Principal's wife gets 45 days for tryst with student

A Larimer County judge chided teacher Carrie McCandless, a principal's wife, for acting like a love-struck teen and sentenced her to 45 days in jail for a sexual liaison with a 17-year-old student.

Judge James Hiatt told the 30-year-old former Brighton Charter High School teacher that she was supposed to be the trusted adult who set the boundaries.

"All of this sounds like something a 16- or-17-year-old student would be doing and would have been expelled for," he said.

McCandless got the maximum sentence under an April deal with prosecutors in which she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of having unlawful sexual contact, a second misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and a felony count of tampering with physical evidence. She will serve five years probation and be required to register as a sex offender....

4. Disgusting
Edited on Fri Jun-08-07 01:11 PM by Juniperx
Far too many of these "trusted adults" behaving badly these days. I know, I know, there's a lot of guys out there who will say they wished they'd been able to "do it" with their "trusted adult" crush, that it's a perfectly natural deal... I still find that disgusting... and I still find it a "perfectly natural deal" to want to kill such "trusted adults" with my bare hands if they ever touch one of my kids... male or female... dead meat. Dog food. Bare hands. Perfectly natural.

5. I'd really like to know if this is actually happening MORE these days, or is it because...
...of the internet that we hear about these "incidents" more these days? I don't remember more than one or to of these "incidents" back when I was in High School (1978-1982), and if we did, they were just rumors.

I've wanted, for a while, a place for what the AP once called "Strange News" which I think they might be renaming "Offbeat" and Reuters calls "Oddly Enough" on their site.

Like this one (though I might put this one in Science too):

Humanoid toddler reacts to touch, sound

OSAKA, Japan (AP) -- A group of scientists in Japan have developed a robot that acts like a toddler to better understand child development.

The Child-Robot with Biomimetic Body, or CB2, was developed by a team of researchers at Osaka University in western Japan and is designed to move just like a real child between 1 and 3 years old.

CB2, at just over 4 feet tall and weighing 73 pounds, changes facial expressions and can rock back and forth.

The robot's movements are smooth as it is fitted with 56 actuators in lieu of muscle. It has 197 sensors for touch, small cameras working as eyes, and an audio sensor. CB2 can also speak using an artificial vocal cord.

7. In the early 70's... Jr High is what they called it then...
One of the lady gym teachers had an affair with one of the prettiest girls on campus. We all thought it was just a rumor... until both teacher and student mysteriously stopped attending school. This was a teacher in her early 30's and a student who was 15.

It was years until I heard of another such incident.
