Gore may run as Independent? Unity 08'.
The internet genious that he is, don't you think he may be looking into running for the Unity 08' COnvention?
If he teamed up with Bloomberg they may be unstoppable and Gore would no longer have to be involved in the typical Dem/Rep retoric.
I think it would be brilliant!

4. If he ultimately didn't care if he won...
He could inject global warming into the debate for everyone.

10. Global warming is in the debate.
He doesn't have to run a phony, go-nowhere presidential campaign to bring it OR keep it there.

30. What so many don't get is that Gore doesn't have to run ANY presidential campaign
to keep global warming in the forefront of the debate. In face, if he was president, Gore could highlight global warming but he would have to be involved in lots of other things that are important to the American people. Al Gore has found his calling in life and it is not being president.

15. On Professor Plum's recent monster-sized Gore thread, someone posted
part of an interview with Larry King where Gore stated he would support the Democratic nominee...whoever that may be. :-)

That's an indication, at least.

But clearly he was messing with the wrong grouper of Democrats. We schooled him in reality. But do we have to dance on his grave, just for the halibut? Tanks, but tanks.

37. uh oh...now ya done and made me find it.....
It was April the forty-first
Being a quadruple leap year
I was driving in downtown Atlantis
My barracuda was in the shop
So I was in a rented stingray
And it was overheating

So I pulled into a Shell Station
They said I'd blown a seal
I said, "Fix the **** thing
And leave my private life out of it
Okay pal?"

While they were doing that
I walked over to a place called the Oyster Bar, a real dive
But I knew the owner
He used to play for the Dolphins
I said "Hi Gil"
You have to yell, he's hard of herring

Gil was also down on his luck
Fact is he was barely keeping his head below water
I bellied up to the sandbar
He poured me the usual

Rusty snail, hold the grunion
Shaken not stirred
With a peanut butter and jellyfish sandwich on the side
Heavy on the mako

I slipped him a fin
On porpoise
I was feeling good
I even dropped a sand dollar in the box for Jerry's squids
For the halibut

Well the place was crowded
We were packed in like sardines They were all there to listen to the big band sounds of Tommy Dorsal
What sole

Tommy was rockin' the place with a very popular tuna
Salmon Chanted Evening
And the stage was surrounded by screaming groupers
Probably there to see the bass player

One of them was this cute little yellowtail
And she's giving me the eye
So I figured this is my chance for a little fun
You know, piece of Pisces

But she said things I just couldn't fathom
She was too deep, seemed to be under a lot of pressure
Boy, could she drink
She drank like a . . .
She drank a lot

I said "What's your sign"
She said "Aquarium"
I said "Great, let's get tanked"

I invited her to my place for a midnight bait
I said "Come on baby, it'll only take a few minnows"
She threw me that same old line
"Not tonight, I gotta haddock"

And she wasn't kidding either
Cause in came the biggest, meanest looking haddock
I'd ever seen come down the pike
He was covered with mussels

He came over to me and said
"Listen, shrimp, don't you come trollin' around here"
What a crab
This guy was steamed
I could see the anchor in his eyes

I turned to him, I said
"A-balone, you're just being shellfish"
Well, I knew it was going to be trouble and so did Gil
‘Cause he was already on the phone to the cods

The haddock hits me with a sucker punch
I catch him with a left hook
He eels over
It was a fluke but there he was
Lying on the deck, flat as a mackerel
Kelpless

I said "Forget the cods Gil
This guy's gonna need a sturgeon"
Well, the yellowtail was impressed with the way I landed her boyfriend
She came over to me, she said
"Hey, big boy, you're really a game fish
What's your name"
I said "Marlin"

Well, from then on we had a whale of a time
I took her to dinner, I took her to dance
I bought her a bouquet of flounders
And then I went home with her
And what did I get for my trouble
A case of the clams.

- Kip Adotta

27. "folks are leaving the Democratic party in droves"... So, you need another reality check?
The number of people who self identify as Democrats is on the rise. One recent poll even placed it as a majority of voters, as in over 50%. So skeedaddle, Peabody71. Go disrupt somewhere else.

42. I lost the sole of my right shoe 6 years ago.
My left shoe is still doing just fine! Sometimes shoddy workmanship pops up on one side of an otherwise GOOD institution.

I have a # of friends who are sooo impressed w/ the left sole of my shoes that they are buying them up.... they will never be sucked into the right soles' manufacturer again.

They are Smaaarrrt.

PS - why are you still here? I've noticed you for quite awhile.... why are you still here?

You think Gore would be stupid and run third party? He'd have unanimous support of the Dems if he ran as a Dem than as a third party.

Of course, I'd love to see someone finally break up the two party system but that is wishful thinking.

25. It is not brilliant, and this is why
The Vice-President only has three Constitutional duties: run the Senate, break tie votes in the Senate, and become President if the current President leaves office.

That is it.

Every other power is granted by the President. Cheney is powerful soley because Bush lets him be powerful. Bush has signed executive order and directives making Cheney basically a co-president. This is, I believe, and unprecedented expansion of Vice-Presidental power that hopefully will never occur again.

The idea that Bloomberg would serve to moderate Gore, or vice versa, is highly questionable and would depend entirely on the person elected President.

26. Whoa there, Hoss! Don't go thinking Al Gore is more of a maverick than he is.
He's a Democrat, his father was a Democrat, he's part of the whole Democrat scene. He'd no more dump the party than the Clintons would dump it.

Not to mention he's good at math. He's not going to go sabatoging the election for his own ego, like Nader or Perot or whatever idiot these "Unity" numskulls pick. If he runs, it's going to be to win, not to get warm fuzzies about what a cool dude he is. He's way beyond needing that in his life.
