7. Bush was drinking beer with alcohol
Note to our customers: Non-alcoholic beers are very low alcohol beers with an alcohol content of less than 1/2 of 1% by volume but none of the beers offered here are completely alcohol free.

12. is it just me
or does Angela Merkle look just the slightest bit uncomfortable in that last photo? The smile a bit too forced or something? The look of someone who hopes beyond hope that this will be the last drink he'll drink that day, but knows that it probably won't be and is feeling that sense of dread people around drinking alcoholics who end up out-of-control and sh*t faced are very familiar with?

22. Buckler doesn't have a head like that. No way, no chance, no how.
That's a Buckler BOTTLE, certainly. But that's not what's in that glass.

24. N/A beers generally have no "head" worth mentioning. Certainly nothing like that.
I've had Buckler- it's nothing special.

"Kaliber" is my preferred N/A- it's a little pricey,
but really good stuff.
It's really close to a rich, hearty genuine beer...
but I doubt it would make a head like that either.

26. The beer looks awfully dark to me.
I thought NA beers were lighter in color. Closer to a lager, the light gold color, not bronze.

21. From Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckler_%28beer%29

In the Netherlands, Buckler beer was launched in the summer of 1988. The name Heineken did not appear on the label

On December 31, 1989, Dutch cabaret performer Youp van't Hek negatively referred to Buckler beer several times during his New Year cabaret show, also with the words: "You know Buckler, don't you? The orthodox reformed beer. I hate them incredibly, Buckler drinkers. Yuck. Those types standing next to you in a bar that don't get drunk." His show resulted in a new concept, the 'Buckler loser' (Dutch: Bucklerlul), which led to dropping sales and eventually taking the beer out of the Dutch market. The estimated loss for Heineken was ƒ400,000,000. Heineken did not sue Youp van't Hek, responding that they themselves also use humour in their campaigns and that they should be able to deal with it themselves too.

9. Bush looks uncomfortable. He looks outcast.
He looks like he is downing beers because he feels insecure and unsure of himself. It looks like he has made a couple of his usual stupid, tasteless, corny jokes and everyone just kind of looked over at him then ignored him because he is a big boob.

So then we hear he didn't show up to anything because his tummy hurt. BS! He didn't show up because he knows everyone is laughing at him and knows he is a BIG FUCKING FAILURE! They know he is a BIG JOKE! He will never admit it but he has picked up on their body language and so he went to his room to hide.

Owwwww! My tummy hurts!

13. It looks like it's Non-Alcoholic beer though
Edited on Fri Jun-08-07 06:31 PM by Quixote1818
He was probably drinking it for a placebo effect. To give him the feeling he is getting drunk because he is still an alcoholic. Like someone smoking a pencil or eating when they cant smoke.

On Edit. See the above post: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=1073562&mesg_id=1073635

It's Buckler Non-Alcoholic Beer.

14. that man has no style

nothing wrong with having a beer, but that man has no style.

Look at this: you're in Germany, on of the few countries in the world (besides Belgium) where they make good beer, and you are drinking this garbage?

Like ordering a cheeseburger in a 3 star Michelin restaurant...

15. And slurping the foam off the top of the glass.
Slurping foam is a no-no in the dummies book of Etiquette. I guess that is not one of the 50 books a year Bush reads.

And last year he was eating with his mouth open talking to Tony Blare.

16. My firiends who are ODAAT - "One Day at a time" say
that low alcohol beer is a big NO NO. One taste and you are off "the wagon."

But no meetings for Dumbya. He is in trouble -- and so are we, as we have known for 6 years.

18. Whatever.
Everyone is different. If your friends need that sort of regimentation that's fine, but lots of former alcoholics can manage to down a wimpy beer without going on a bender, or get and stay sober without some 12 step religion. Idiot's problem is not that he is a drunk or not a drunk, or in a program or not in a program, it is a long series of vile criminal policies, it is corruption like this nation has never seen before. It ain't about a wimpy beer.
