20. They are!!
It's kind of stupid that candidates start running almost two years before the freaking election. It seems like it starts earlier all the time, just like the damned "Christmas shopping season" which is about to gear up any day now.

26. Ha! But seriously, there is a burn-out factor.....
which can induce indifference by the time the event actually occurs. I know, for me, walking in to stores on Nov. 1 and seeing Christmas stuff has done a lot to spoil Christmas, which I used to enjoy. By the time Dec. 25th rolls around I'm sick of the whole thing. How many people have heard so much from and about Presidential candidates by election day that bored cynicism sets in, and stupid voting (or non-voting) is the result?

34. The corporate criminals and their absurd quest for cash.........
Edited on Sat Jun-09-07 02:02 PM by Double T
have destroyed just about everything, including the spirit of holidays. There is a real possibility that many voters or even potential voters may not come to the polls or even register to vote because of droning political message burnout. Elected officials make big promises and always fall way short on producing results; they're no longer believable. The extended political season gives many more constituents the opportunity for a reality check about what all the candidates will actually do for them.

41. The filing deadline?
IF he intends to run, waiting while other candidates duke it out, spend money trying to make money, and run the gauntlet of the inane MSM -- well, waiting has done him NO harm so far. In some polls, Gore is in third place without even being a candidate. Gore looks tanned and rested, and like he's enjoying life and enjoying the chance to get his message out on every talk show and book store.

:-)

3. Maybe he will just walk into the Democratic Convention next year
and walk out with the nomination.
Just a wild thought, he walks in, the crowd goes nuts and they vote, everyone changes their vote to Gore and it is all over.

Who knows in this crazy world.

The longer he waits though, the less scandal the right wing can fabricate on him.

5. He has always had fun meeting people --
The idea that he is shy or prefers ideas to people is bull. He likes ideas for sure, but he says that his favorite part of campaigning is meeting people and talking to people in The Unseen Al Gore

His best pictures are always with kids -- if he decides to run he should surround himself with kids at all times -- even giving lectures on global warming, just let the kids play in front of the stage where he is standing.

Edited on Sat Jun-09-07 10:47 AM by peacebuzzard
I was advised of a book signing in Nashville. I wonder if that is where this photo took place?

"Not long before our nation launched the invasion of Iraq, our longest-serving Senator, Robert Byrd of West Virginia, stood on the Senate floor and said: "This chamber is, for the most part, silent—ominously, dreadfully silent. There is no debate, no discussion, no attempt to lay out for the nation the pros and cons of this particular war. There is nothing. We stand passively mute in the United States Senate."

33. possibly?
I'd say little question about it. What we are faced with today is as great a threat to the Constitutional Government of the United States as was the Civil War. And a greater threat to our economy than was the Great Depression. And a vastly greater threat to the environment than was the Dust Bowl. All at once. And more. And he gets it. He would have a legitimate shot at fixing it, could do far more to redirect our history than the New Deal. NO President has had to tackle nearly so much, and I believe he'd be more than up to it.

So what if I'm hanging on every small indication that Gore might run? After what we've been through, it's hard not to hope for something very, very different. If he doesn't run, we'll all handle it ok. Let us indulge in our dream tonight while there is still possibility.

Gore could say "there no way, I am not now or in the future, ever ever ever again going to run for President" and there would still be people on DU trying to figure out what he meant by that. :)

14. I see a happy author signing his books not a politician on the stump
I really don't think Gore is going to enter the race. As soon as he takes on a political mantel he loses some credibility in the eyes of many. The issue is too important and he has an approval rating now of over eighty percent. The very second he enters the race that approval rating will be cut in half and then his issue (Global Warming) will lose some impetus. I think he cares more about saving the world then about fixing Bush*'s political mess. He also knows there are very fine Democrats running that will listen to his advice and accept that Global Warming is a very serious issue..

We were immediately in line just in front of the lady holding the baby.

What is most ironic about this photo showing up here is that not more
than 15 seconds before the pic was shot I mentioned DU to Vice President Gore.
He seemed to be interested and repeated the name, although he didn't say he
knew it.

36. I took some video with my phone....
They claimed there would be no photographing allowed so we left the camera at home. When we approached Vice President Gore they told me to stop videoing. That part was a bummer.

We purchased 5 signed books, and will be giving them for presents this Christmas. There was also quite a few Al Gore for President folks there so we purchased 2 Al Gore 2008 T-shirts and many bumper stickers and pins. It was a grand time.

44. Book tour is a better, easier way to meet the public. Why announce and wreck a better way talk to
people who want to meet him. This is so much better than what it would be like for him and the public if he announced. Of course he may never announce, but if he did he's been able to meet people in a nicer way.
