"Oh, and just one more thing"
"And One More Thing..."
At the end of each presentation Jobs adds to the drama by saying,
"and one more thing." He then adds a new product, new feature,
or sometimes introduces a band. He approaches each presentation
as an event, a production with a strong opening, product demonstrations
in the middle, a strong conclusion, and an encore -- that "one more thing!"

Who did Steve Jobs get his first voicemail when he introduced the iPhone
during his presentation? Al Gore. Why Al Gore? Well, besides being on
the board of Apple, I believe there were other underlying reasons which reveal
the infulance of the way Apple promotes itself as does Al Gore.

What I see with Al Gore's non-campaign campaign is very similar
to how Steve Jobs creates excitement when he introduces new products.

Apple is very secret when it is about to introduce a new product
which builds excitement and rumors on what it could be.
Then the presentation afterwards the marketing of the product or book

If you remember at the academy awards this little tease.

DICAPRIO: "Now, are you sure, are you positive that all this hard work
hasn’t inspired you to make any other kind of major, major announcement
to the world here tonight?"

GORE:" Well, I do appreciate that, Leo. And i’m kind of surpised at the feelings
welling up here actually. You’ve been very convincing. Even though I honestly had
not planned on doing this, I guess with a billion people watching, it’s as good as
time as any. So, my fellow Americans, I’m going to take this opportunity right here
and now to formally my intention — "

Al Gore is following a very successful formula that Apple does with its products
They control the message not the media.

"Oh, and one more thing"

Al Gore is going to run

4. How much does that thing cost?
It's got to be rather expensive I would think and extra money to download and have internet access.

7. It does look like fun, but
I do not have an "early adopter" budget.
There will be bugs; there always are.
It will require charging two or three times a day.

I may get one, someday.

I have a Palm III for calendar and contacts, a cell phone for making calls, and a Sansa 260 for music. I don't need all of them all the time, nor do I want emails 24/7.

Oh, and one more thing. The iPhone really does look cool.

17. Hijacking a thread is impossible on message boards with subthreads.
As you will note, your line of discussion (which includes Al Gore as well as Jobs and the iPhone) continues below.

But, let me thank you for presenting us the opportunity to discuss the iPhone. Not all of us are intersted in trashing Jobs and Gore.

And another thing ...

26. Yes it is...and you only need to sell one child to buy one.
This is from a guy who has owned several Mac's, and Windows machines as well. Apple stuff is cool. And it is way overpriced. Maybe the cappucino-sippers here can afford an iPhone, but we people struggling to keep our real-world jobs will never see one.

9. OK the iPhone is great as is the iPod but this is really about marketing
Al Gore aka Apple style. Jobs and Gore are good friends but
if you understand how apple markets its products you can
see some of the very tactics being used by Gore.

Face it all candidates are marketed one way or another
and Apple is very good at how it markets its products.
Ya think Gore doesn't know this being on the board?

12. I really want to make my next computer an Apple, however, I
understand that some software can't be run on it. Does anyone know what software that is and maybe I shouldn't be worried because they are somethings that I don't use? I'm really trying to use products that aren't part of the mega-structure of corporations that are ruining our country and our world.

13. The new Parallels Desktop 3.0.4124 program

Parallels Desktop is the first solution that gives Apple users the
ability to run Windows, Linux or any other operating system and
their critical applications at the same time as Mac OS X on any
Intel-powered iMac, Mac Mini, MacBook or MacBook Pro.

27. I run VMware Fusion on my iMac.
I usually have Windows 2000 PRO and Ubuntu Linux open at the same time. All of them can share files and I can copy and paste between the three. I can run almost any application written for any OS on my iMac.

Right now it is a free Beta.. I have not had any problems with it. Just make sure you get lots of RAM.. I have 2gigs and all is well.

16. If anyone follows Apple on their product launches
one would have to see something familiar and similar going on.

I think Gore is smart to be out of the fray of the pundits and chooses
to market himself by controlling the release of the "product"
as does apple.

21. It makes good marketing sense to me, but I have to confess I'm
a total ignoramus in marketing and generally have absolutely no interest in it whatsoever! But let's hope it's marketing for the Presidency (which he will always be legitimately in my eyes anyway) rather than for his book.

24. PS: My formerly-conservative father-in-law loves Al Gore.
Sees him as sensible and scientific, bipartisan and smart enough to do the huge job necessary to save this nation.

This is a former Chevron executive, by the way. Former global warming denier. Who loves Al Gore.

Damn. You have no idea how amazing this is.
