"I guess we should just let China have Iraq, right?"
This is what a freeper-type walked by me and said today as I was holding a Peace Flag at our city's weekly Iraq War protest.

So I replied, "Why NOT? China's holding the majority of our national debt anyway, thanks to George Bush!"

His wife turned and laughed at him and then he just shrugged his shoulders.

By the way, we had hundreds of honks of support and just this one guy with his idiotic China remark.

2. But I thought we were liberating Iraq for the Iraqis....
I guess these freepers knew this war has been about oil all along - despite their jingoistic slogans.

6. Yeah, I guess we are secretly fighting China
even though China is clever enough not to even have their soldiers dying and national debt soaring due to this.

3. ...huh?!
Will I get a brain bubble trying to understand where in the fuck he pulled China out of? No wonder logic doesn't work on them, they're insane.

4. I know, I was stunned for a sec
but was able to formulate a response. I thought I'd heard all the idiotic ever-changing reasons Bushbots have about invading Iraq.

7. Hell, most of what he buys at WalMart is from China.
What's...ow! Brain bubble! Have to stop!

You should get a metal for coming up with anything.

8. I usually
don't think of these things 'til later, but I've read some things lately about China being one of our creditors so it just popped into my head.

The best part was when the guy's wife turned at laughed at him like "checkmate." I'm sure she had been hoping he wouldn't open his mouth in the first place.

9. Not to rain on your parade or anything but China does not hold the majority of our debt.
I know it is fun to make a freeper look silly but, unfortunately, you were wrong on this point.

Japan holds twice as much in Treasuries as does China. The majority of US Treasury debt is held by Americans themselves in conjunction with the US Government.

11. Wow, $252 BILLION held by China and it's
still not the majority.

Sad.

13. Thanks.
Last week a brilliant freeper just yelled "Homos!" at our little group holding Peace signs and "Bring our troops home NOW!" signs.

99% of the interaction is positive--horns honking, thumbsup, that sort of thing.

It was hotter than hell out there today. But I kept thinking probably not as hot as Iraq and I know our troops want to come home, so I just kept holding my flag.
