Doan Report Delivered To White House: "Doan Violated The Law..."
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/06/09/doan-report-delivered-to-white-house/

Doan report delivered to White House.

Gov Exec reported on Friday, “The Office of Special Counsel confirmed that it delivered to President Bush today its investigative report concluding General Services Administration chief Lurita Doan violated the law that limits political activity in federal agencies, leaving Doan’s future in the hands of the White House.” The article also noted that Waxman has received transcripts from the Office of Special Counsel’s interview with Doan:

In related news, OSC has provided the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee with redacted transcripts of their nine-hour interview with Doan, along with the e-mail records obtained by OSC to determine whether Doan was using her Blackberry during specific time periods during the January meeting. The panel’s chairman, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., and ranking member, Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., both received copies of the report, the OSC spokesman said.

On Wednesday Doan is scheduled to appear before the oversight committee to discuss her allegations that GSA employees who testified about her statements at the Jan. 26 meeting were biased and poor performers. Waxman also said Doan may be asked other questions about her previous statements to the committee and to officials involved in the OSC investigation.

1. "e-mail records...to determine whether Doan was using her Blackberry...during the January meeting."
Happy Birthday to me.

Waxman's working both harder AND smarter.

K&R!

Administration Oversight
Committee Requests Documents From Doan Investigation
http://oversight.house.gov/story.asp?ID=1337

Chairman Waxman requests from the Office of Special Counsel documents related to its investigation of Hatch Act violations by GSA Administrator Lurita Doan. The OSC concluded that Administrator Doan violated the Hatch Act, which prohibits executive branch officials from engaging in partisan politics while on duty, in official government work spaces, or with government equipment.

5. I was pleasantly surprised to discover, after all this time,
that the "giant" Henry Waxman was actually only something like five foot four. He sure looks a lot bigger when he's chairing an important committee.

The only fly in my particular ointment, assuming, of course, that that there will actually be some action, is that the only penalty for "Hatch act" violations is dismissal.

I really want to see some prosecution and jail time for lying to congress and lying under oath. That babbling brook-Doan- should join Libby for a couple of years.

She and that other character-can't remember her name right this moment but she was the one who was funneling Abramoff/Native American money through DoI Griles to wingnut political causes-seem cut from the same mold.

This sort of behavior sure looks a lot like treason; at least treasonous to the cause of good government and subversion of all sorts of beneficent aspirations.
Maybe I'm too bitter, but dismissal and some nominal fine just doesn't seem commensurate with the damage they caused.
