IMPEACH THEM ALL!
Submitted by davidswanson on Sun, 2007-06-10 01:57. Impeachment
Letter printed in the Bangor Daily News, Maine:

Please, in the interest of all that's sane and reasonable, impeach everybody! We are living in the madhouse that a handful of rapacious robber-barons have created out of what was once a functional, compassionate and globally respected society. How in the world did we get to this state?

It is time for our elected officials to WAKE UP and look around!!! and mend the damage you have allowed to happen.

I am deeply ashamed to be an American if these people are allowed to represent me. If you love your country - impeach Gonzalez! and then go for Bush, Cheney and the rest of that evil bunch.

Viki Kennedy, Bancroft

2. Put Down That Crack Pipe
The current crowd in Congress wouldn't remove Satan himself from office. And, honestly, we voters won't retaliate - after all, two of our three leading presidential candidates pushed the Iraq War, 'free' trade with China, and all sorts of other evil stuff, and it han't hurt them any.

22. U R 100% correct, want a better US of A get rid of
everyone in congress and the administration and repeat every election cycle. Create a "civilian" ethics board with full powers for each branch of the govt. Make ANY crime committed while "serving" as an elected or APPOINTED official a crime with no statute of limitation. Double any punishment or sentence for ANY crime committed as a govt official, just like doubling the fine for speeding in a construction zone.

That may be a start.

It is supposed to be a government of "We the People" after all.

Oh but that would be too radical! hahahaha

26. good point Manny - things we should consider seriously
which is why i am COMPLETELY baffled as to why on earth anyone supports Hillary or Edwards, despite their "good" intentions.

4. From the murder and theft that marked the creation of the
"good ol' USofA" right up through the quiet acquisition of and amnesty for some of the very worst murderers of the NAZI empire, through the CIA's grossly illegal actions throughout the fake "cold war" and on to the present day, US policy has never been particularly compassionate and the global respect was a direct result of pragmatism.

Sure, the better angels of our nature, or that of some fraction of us, have worked to produce such qualities, but the greater picture of America as a paragon of social equality and empathy has been far more a product of PR than reality.

The one positive effect of the universal disgust and hearty anger at the contemptuous antics of our government may possibly be that we will have to more closely match our actual behavior to the image we claim.
Now, that would be almost worth it.
Killing a million people to bring down one vicious man, as the idiot repukes claim about the Iraq war, seems more the actual indicator of our nature as a country than the pius bs that we claim for ourselves.

8. The killing of people is of little importance to republicans coveting others oil
I never believe a republican when their lips are moving. Often when people are in to trying to swindle people for other people the operators of the swindle often end up getting swindled themselves. The republicans thought dropping the pretext of moral honesty would give them a majority and power to control all political outcomes. Some foolish democrats also feared and believed the republicans could pull off the swindle. Well it's not going to work

14. I think you have found another way to relate the old cautionary tale
that has a number of renditions through the years, such as the unleashing of one's own Frankensteinian monster before discovering that it likes the taste of republican flesh only slightly less than it does democratic.

It never ceases to amaze me that people can claim virtue (R) while ignoring the obvious fact that "republican" is synonymous with liar, pervert, corrupt, criminal and crook.

If the media won't educate our fellow citizens, then we must.

I found out about corporate personhood through a LTTE.

10. One of the right-wing's favorite talking points is "regime change"
I'd love to see an in-depth retrospective Congressional inquiry into the 2000 Florida
election. Goes to legality and validity of the initial assumption of office.

In retrospect, we know there was Florida vote caging in 2004 because the evidence was
inadvertently sent to the dot.org spoof site and forwarded to Palast.

How many Florida voters were illegally caged in 2000?

How many dirty tricks took place between the election and SCOTUS' Bush v. Gore decision?

This was a turning point in US history, and how was it brought about? Not a pretty picture!!

16. We don't need "in depth" for Stolen Election I in Florida
A simple extrapolation of "uncounted" ballots days after the election revealed the reality (no "margin of error") that Bush was rejected by tens of thousands of Floridians.

There was a simple, non-mysterious choice between Americanism and Stalinism ("Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.")

That reality also erases their propaganda meme that it was a "close election." It wasn't. Gore won by 45 electoral votes -- roughly ten whole "red states."

It was the Biggest of Crimes perpetrated by the Biggest of Lies.

13. Problem is that half of the elected Senate officials are still Republican.
And they still support the evil.

The evil won't go away until the American Republican base decides it must go away.

The rest of us don't seem to have much say so on the issue.
Certainly not our timid Democratic leaders.

And while we're at it, shame on all the Democrats who voted to go along with the recent war supplemental. A big pffffft! to those like Donna Brazzile who said on Larry King that in effect, the Dems did all they could to stop the recent war spending bill with no conditions attached. They did not do all they could do. They could have all walked out en mass in protest of this shameful war-mongering fear mongering, lying, torturing, vile and corrupt incompetant bunch of nonabs.

SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!!!
I agree with the letter writer. I am ashamed to be an American for what our current lack of federal leadership has done, and continues to do to our nation.
I want Justice!

29. There is only one question: to impeach or not to impeach.
Edited on Sun Jun-10-07 10:24 PM by Raster
A patriot would answer in the former. A coward and/or collaborator, the later. It really is that simple.
