6 dead, 1 child injured in Wisconsin shooting

DELAVAN, Wis. - A shooting inside a home left six people dead, and a child was found in a nearby vehicle with a gunshot to the chest, the Delavan police chief said Sunday.

Police were responding to a report of shots fired Saturday night in this southern Wisconsin city, Chief Tim O'Neill said.

The child, a 2-year-old girl, was taken to a hospital in Rockford, Ill., on Saturday night, where she was in critical condition, hospital officials said.

Rockford Memorial hospital officials said the child was then transferred by helicopter to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Her condition there was not immediately available Sunday morning.

Delavan is about 40 miles southwest of Milwaukee.

A shooting left six people dead and one injured, the Delavan police chief said Sunday.

Jesus Valadez, 27, who lives in a house next to where the shooting occurred, said he did not hear gunshots last night.

"It's kind of scary," he said. "Exciting, don't get me wrong. Better than watching TV."
