Question: Do you really think our politicians... |
|
have OUR best interests and needs in mind when they propose/vote on bills???

1. For the most part, no. |
|
Most of them have their own best interests and needs in mind; if they can manage to make it look like they've given lip service, or a small concession, to ours, so much the better for them.

2. I think they think they do...but they don't. Well, maybe they do when they |
|
are naming bridges or honoring 100 year olds on their birthdays.

And they never have. It is all a part of 'business', nothing PERSONAL.

I think they check to see which corporation donated to their campaign and which ones they are obligated to. This is the only explanation I can come up with, considering how some of them have voted in the past few years.
I also think they are completely out of touch with the average citizen.

6. Yes, they want to get elected again |
|
It's just that we differ among ourselves so much and don't tend to allow for those who disagree with us being allowed to have any effect. The politicians may indeed see that and try to do a balancing act.
If they are all such self centered bastards, why are we electing them, anyway? Part of it is our fault for being so shallow, in general,as a people.

8. No. First priority for most is power/career; staying on the hill as long as they can. |

Regardless of party. It's up to US to pressure them to do what WE want or they get booted. That's how things are supposed to work - anyone who thinks those in power make decisions to benefit the common people out of the goodness of their hearts is delusional. This is our country, and if the American people don't start wising up and wielding the power granted us by the Constitution, the demise of this country is no one's fault but ours.

The only thing ever on a politicians mind is which lobby is waving money under their nose. I used to think massive public outcry could affect a politician's behavior but the cave on the Iraq bill taught me I was wrong.
