Did the Republicans leave themselves open for attack on suggesting Libby be pardoned?

Seems to me this is a golden opportunity to say they support obstruction of justice, treason and fraud. Whoever the Democratic candidate is he/she should be able to nail them on this.

Do you agree or will such an attack fall flat?

On Edit: I know a heavy majority of Americans believe he broke the law and should pay.

If this story had broken in the manner it should have, and had been pursued by the likes of Jeff Gerth or Sue Schmidt or Isikoff, the way they went after Whitewater/Monica, Bush would not only NOT have been "reelected," half his administration would be in jail by now.
