2. The lack of misspelled words in that post makes me suspicious. |
|
I don't think this is one of the actual Potter-deniers.

4. So I guess Disney is out, too? |
|
She can't like many Disney movies, either, 'cause of all the magic in them. Tinkerbell and Snow White must be responsible for a whole generation or two of witches and warlocks by now!

6. as I've pointed out to more than one anti-Potter person..... |
|
The major argument is that children imitate what they read. With Harry Potter, they fear the kids will start casting spells if they read the books.
When discussing the subject with an anti-potter person, I ask them if their kids read the bible. Of Course they do, I'm told, they are encourage to read the bible.
Then I ask them, if kids imitate what they read in the belief that it's true - have their kids have tried turning water into wine, have they tried to part the waters in the backyard pool, have they tried to raise a pet from the dead?
Most often the answer I get is "That's different". When pressed to explain why kids would cast spells after reading Harry Potter and not try to resurrect the family pet after reading the bible I just get blather...
