Drought -- the greatest story never told?
Can anyone tell me where I can find the best and most RELIABLE maps of drought-stricken areas of the world? There have been a few -- very few -- articles recently on the drought afflicting some areas in this country but I'd like to bookmark a site where the drought is being mapped and accurately reported on a regular basis. The rising price of food is outstripping that of gas and I'm expanding my garden starting tomorrow. In my area of WV we're already several iinches below normal rainfall but luckily I'm watering my garden with my rain barrel collection system.

I think this is going to get bad, folks. Better make sure your pantry is stocked.

Thanks in advance for any referrals.

1. Here's NOAA's drought page
http://www.drought.noaa.gov/

I think about this all of the time. I have had gardens in the past and I've done container gardening. I expect that it will become a necessity.

The definitive history of water resources in the American West, and a very illuminating lesson in the political economy of limited resources anywhere. Highly recommended!

From Publishers Weekly
In this stunning work of history and investigative journalism, Reisner tells the story of conflicts over water policy in the West and the resulting damage to the land, wildlife and Indians. PW stated that this "timely and important book should be required reading for all citizens."
