US security with C4 explosives at the G8
"Sources told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that US security men tested German security by trying to smuggle C4 plastic explosive past a checkpoint at Heiligendamm.
German surveillance machinery detected the tiny stash in a suitcase in a car and the Americans in plainclothes then identified themselves. German police declined comment."

This is prett amazing.
Who gives the US the right to test the security of other countries?
How would the US react if Germany would do the same in the States?
Where did the US security get the explosives from?

P.S. The source is "dpa" the German Press Agency.

2. Wait a minute -- U.S. agents were trying to smuggle C4 into the G8?
This needs to be looked into more. Why would they try to "test" the Germans when they could simply add their own security measures? More importantly, why use ACTUAL C4 when they could use something else to test security that doesn't blow everything the fuck up?

Not to be a tin-foil hatter, but this needs to be looked at further.

4. Agreed
It was nowhere discussed in German media. Yet it was a dpa message.
If I've time I need to see if there are follow up stories somewhere.

Further reports confirm that's a dpa story and points out that the police unit for the G8 refused to comment.

Here a story also from well known "Süddeutsche Zeitung":

(dpa)

It's basically everywhere the same dpa story word by word.
No questions asked.
Same as usual...

6. The media is firmly under control
Note the „sehr kleine Menge“ ("very small amounts") What is a very small amount? A suitcase full of explosives?

And the story is always mentioned near the bottom of the page with no real information. The C4 was discovered on Tuesday 10:30 AM, however the first report didn't emerge until Thursday and there are now two (2) reports in English which are in the same format of mentioning it at the bottom of the page.

"No comment." (It's actually "No confirmation" which is even weirder)

The irony of this world is that if somebody prevents a terrorist attack, it is ignored and treated with silence. Was Heiligendamm supposed to have its London Underground Bombing as well? Was Germany supposed to join the War on Terror...

Stanislav Petrov, the man who single handedly prevented a nuclear war between Russia and the United States on September 25 & 26, 1983. Demoted for failing to follow procedure.

12. The first one was a reference to the game of 'Battleships'
where each player gives coordinates consisting of a letter and number, trying to find to coordinates where the other has placed their 'battleships', 'destroyers' and so on.

The second meant what it said - well done to the Germans for successfully detecting the test explosive.

tests of this kind are completely unusual.
