Now is the time to villify "Republicans"
According to Rasmussen, a very high percentage of Republicans support the Bush and the Iraq occupation. The mess in Iraq should be labeled the Republican war at every opportunity. The complete fuck up of government services, i.e. Katrina, should be labeled Republican malfeasance. Et cetera. This is not just a political talking point, they have supported Bush in lockstep and now they are all trying to distance themselves as if they had no culpability. I think that Republican should become a term that people run away from.

1. "Republican should become a term that people run away from."
Absolutely. They own this shit. They're trying to pretend otherwise these days, but they own this mess. All of it.

:grr:

2. It's a double edged strategy
Because the goal is to get as many people voting for Democrats as possible; including Republicans. If we label this war as the base's war (which would certainly be fair), it might hurt our efforts to woo them over to the Democrats side.

I think it's more productive to point out Republican Leaderships failings; none of them stood up to Bush's war, none of them resisted his excesses (this might be what you meant actually). And the Republican Candidates have made it clear that they are going to continue the Bush approach to foreign policy.

4. The base will never come over to the Democratic side...
That is a fantasy. They are hardwired to be racist, greedy and sadistically addicted to killing and maiming everyone in the world who isn't one of them.

5. Is every registered republican part of the base in your mind?
Is everybody who voted for Bush in 2004 a part of the base?

The hardcore base, yeah, we aren't going to get them. But I believe there are a lot of Republicans and a lot of people who have voted for Bush in the past who have buyer's remorse now.

8. Agreed--and tie state and local RRRepublicans to Bush and support
of his policies at every opportunity.

This is a water-cooler campaign, it doesn't have to be a slick marketing ploy.

Every photo-op, every quote, anything we can find. Thirty percent of voters can't possibly win a fair election. Let's forget them and concentrate on the softer 40%.

3. "Republican" should carry the same connotation as "Terrorist".
After what they've allowed to happen to this country, they should be labeled "Terrorists" as well as traitors. They are responsible for fucking every great principal this nation was founded on.
