**** Official U.S. Senate Gonzales No Confidence Debate Thread ****
TRENT LOTT:

"I don't recall anything of this nature beiong proposed before."

..."This is not the British Parliment...Are we going to bing the President hereand have a questioning period."

"The ability of a cabinet member to perform or not to perform is in the eyes of the beholder."

C-SPAN 2 now. I just tuned in after getting an earful about Bush stealing oil from Danish visitors.

What has been happening?

"They know the AG has failed miserably in his job." WOW. He's nailing it. They did not utter a single supportive comment.

"The rule of law is too sacred." too important.. AG contradict himself time after time after time....

"This is a major scandal, a major... series of inappropraite behaviors by a Cabinet officer."

In 19 minutes of speeched ther Republicans did not utter one word of support

"It rises to the highest calling of the Senate to ensure rule of law." "The nation has been shocked by what he has done."

"John Ashcroft threatened to resign..."

"We have a sacred, noble obligation in this country to uphold the rule of law."

that guide the DoJ.

Time honored institutions have been dishonored.

Political AG's

Circumvented confirmation process

WH involved in prosecutorial decisions

Career attorneys are now politicized

USAs were left in place, now they are replaced.

WH counsel chastising USA about mishandling a case.

Invention of position of WH liaison.

Definition of improper now same as obstruction of justice.

Half truths and obfuscations. AG

Long list of lie...repeats NOT TRUE.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHITEHOUSE. Can he be cloned.

sounds like a prosecutor of an impeachment.

"almost unbelievable series of half-truths and obfuscations."

Now the list of untruths by Gonzales. Another long list: "not true" "not true" "not true"

How can he run the FBI when the FBI had to be warned about him? Good one.

Bushco "trying to exit Washington without further indictments"

Impressive indictment!

He feels very strongly about the Iraq war so he'll clearly vote against anything that will end it any time sooner. But this doesn't even have anything to do with Iraq. Lieberwuss has just shown what fucking corrupt piece of shit he is. Let the Republicans have him.

I can't believe this assmunch almost became Vice Preisdent. It's also why I question Gore's political judgment and don't see him as the savior that so many here do.

and tilt the power in the senate away from Dem control. So he gets to be a petulant rwinger.

Can't help but wish some corporation would offer him a sweetheart deal so he would retire early to go make the big bucks in corporate america.

Maybe he is trying to "prove" himself to the admin so that *he* could replace the AG.

136. So WHICH Dems voted NO or didn't vote?!!!
Edited on Mon Jun-11-07 06:01 PM by calipendence
I demand to know!

We already know that Liebershite voted no!. That leaves 50 votes.

We know that we are missing a vote from South Dakota who's not there for legitimate reasons. That leaves 49 votes.

We know we picked up 7 Republican votes. That's a potential 56 votes!

Therefore there are THREE Democrats that either didn't vote or voted NO! I want to know WHO we should be excommunicating from our party soon for supporting an enabler of getting rid of habeas corpus!

WHO ARE THEY?

than conducting the business of the Senate, it seems.

Why should we support any Presidential candidate that is not doing the job they already have?
