Harry Reid calls Senator Schumer the "jr. Senator from NY and can't remember Sheldon Whitehouse's |
|
Name until he looks at his notes and can't read "Sheldon" and says...uh...uh...Senator Whitehouse...he's flubbing what the whole Senate Judiciary Debate is about reading a script which he constantly flugs like someone reading with their old glasses from prescriptions that outdated...not seeing the words and making a mess out of these FireBrand Dem Senators.
What's WRONG WITH REID? Does he need new glasses? He constantly flubs everything...and I've watched him on C-Span for YEARS! He acts like a dotty old man...who just can't quite get the sentences out..and his tone is always "apologetic" like he's "So Sorry" he has to say these things about his fellow Senators" but someone told him "something was going on that needs a vote."
I'm tired of hearing what a hero Reid is..."Harry the Boxer" ..."he knows how to do the punches ...when to jab and when to hold" ...but he is NOT DOING GOOD FOR US IN THE SENATE.
Lott and McConnell made mincemeat of him...with their "time" in the debate. They ATTACKED...while Reid says he "didn't really hear the debate...but I just wanted to say..."
Why is he Senate Majority Leader when the Repugs still have firebrands who ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK! just as if they Still have the Power when they Don't! Why do we have "Harry the Apologizer" always dithering about his "mispeaks and that he was on "another vote" and didn't have time to hear what his fellow Senators were saying."
Where does REID GET HIS POWER? From Daschle? Daschle has been long gone...???

as was Tom Daschle.
Honorable, sincere, but appearing weak as all get-out.

3. I wanted to believe Harry had a spine |
|
when he was selected as minority leader, but nothing he did convinced me. Nevertheless he became majority leader when the Dems won a majority in the senate. He has not changed one iota. He even lacks the spine to stand up to Joe Loserman who constantly belittles and ridicules the Democratic party. It's time for Harry to take a hike and let somebody take over who will stand up for what the party believes in - I suggest Boxer or Feingold.

15. Believe me...I wanted to "BELIEVE, too" having been here since Selection |
|
I wanted to BELIEVE that every one of our Dems were WAITING...to GET OUT AND FIGHT. I sat through Selection, 9/11 and Anthrax and Terra Duct Tape Alerts and Katrina and on and on. I still thought it was because they had LOST THEIR MAJORITY...they were being threatened by the BFEE, they had been attacked by Anthrax, the Repug/Religious Right had SO MUCH POWER that all we could do was throw "spit balls" UNTIL we could regain the House and Senate.
I and so many other DU'ers WORKED OUR BUTTS OFF TRYING TO GET GOOD DEMS WHO COULD FIGHT BACK IN...We lost in 02/04...BUT IN 06 WE FINALLY HAD OUR CHANCE. We walked the streets in our Cities and Towns we gave TIME AND MONEY AND OUR LIVES (in most cases for FREE..the TIME) and WE WON!
WHAT DID WE WIN? HARRY REID! ?????

7. Would YOU have voted for Reid seeing what you see if you were a Senator? |
|
I'm asking because I've been around awhile and I've never seen anything like Reid heading the Senate for Dems...in my lifetime...back to JFK. :-(

10. Possibly. I'm not a Senator. Who else was up? Durbin? A good choice, imo. |
|
But, to be honest, I don't remember who was in the running other than Reid. Who's your favorite Sen. Leader for the Democrats?

8. Wow, this guy's not fit to lead... |
|
I had already thought that because he abrogated the trust of the American people, but now I think it for cognitive reasons as well.

Harry just isn't getting the job done. Not at all. You'd think the GOP was still the majority party!

12. Sen. Reid once said it would take a miracle for the Dems to take the Senate... |
|
Dear XXXX,
Tonight wouldn't have happened without you. I wanted to send you a note of thanks as soon as possible. Your efforts, your activism and your dollars helped do the impossible. Democrats will be the Majority in the Senate.
From Rhode Island to Washington State, America has spoken, and in overwhelming numbers, they've chosen a new direction -- on Iraq, on health care, at the gas pump, and in the economy.
Just a year ago, it seemed it would take a miracle to take back the Senate. But with your help, we have turned back the Republican tide.
Without the White House or either chamber of Congress, Democrats unified and went toe-to-toe with the Republican noise machine. Truth prevailed thanks to you never letting up.--more-- Village VoiceMaybe he doesn't believe in miracles?

I thought it 3 years ago when we were in the minority.
Problem is, who would they pick to replace him? Scary choices out there.

11. Enough of the Senate Dems for me |
|
I've been complaining about Harry Reid since he was Minority Leader. (And took a lot of grief here, too, about it.) Saying he has physical problems like ministrokes is just an excuse. He's been this was as long as I can remember! The Dems just went on and made him Majority Leader like it was his reward to move up. Honestly, if you were an independent would HR and his way of leading impress you in the least? No way. We need somebody dynamic. I know it is tough not having 60 votes to work with, but the Dems in the Senate and House have lower ratings with the public than Bush for God's sake, and practically just roll over with HR's "what can I do" attitude.

18. What? Competent DEM leadership isn't allowed? |
|
Why is it always a choice between a sellout (d) and a puke? Why can't we have effective assertive Dem leadership?

20. How is he not competent? |
|
I don't get how he hasn't been a competent leader, even when the Democrats were in the minority he shut down the Senate for answers about intelligence. Regardless of who is leading the Senate Democrats, things wouldn't be any different than they are now because the majority is too small.

16. I don't understand a connection between Reid and DLC...I don't see him as a huge |
|
supporter, vocal who is listed on the DLC Campaign stuff as a reason to donate. I get all the Dem Campaign Literature, their surveys, etc...just like most Dems here...but I never see stuff that we need to give because Harry Reid has had this success or that...or that he's a leader that we need to give to Dem Party for because he's WON US THIS ACTION OR THAT.
I see Kennedy listed most in my Campaign Lit that I get from them..or Feingold, Clinton.
 Maybe I'm just a "niche" target for Dems that I get the more Progressive solicitations, though.

He's demonstrated a startling capacity to cut deals w/ Bush then lets Bush pull the rug out from under him.
No Child Left Behind? Ugh.
The latest Immigration Bill? A mess.
Medicaid Prescription Drug Reform? A nightmare.
