Wow! Did I really just see that? Sonny Perdue publicly praying for rain?
Edited on Mon Jun-11-07 05:52 PM by Fridays Child

Well, yes, I did and, this is what he said to the reporter: "God is a god of mercy. He's a god of grace. And, uh, he uses, obviously, weather, many times, to, uh, influence the affairs of men."

Edited to add this link to an article I just found.

29. "Rain is the only cure. I believe in the God that can make it rain, and we need to pray for rain."
Gov. Sonny Perdue said he's asking the Almighty to break the drought.

"I'm very concerned," Perdue said at a Thursday news conference. "Rain is the only cure. I believe in the God that can make it rain, and we need to pray for rain."

What you say? There's more than one God Sonny?

3. we should have never taken this land from the Natives
they had the entire chanting to the gods down. Now we're left with some baldheaded guys in business suits thinking they can pray up some rain.

5. Personally, I wouldn't vote for a shaman or for Sonny Perdue to govern my state...
...if they can't abide by the separation of church and state.

32. With All Due Respect, Where Exactly Is That Violation?
Oh, guess what, there wasn't any, no matter how much you'd want to argue there was.

There is no law against praying for help during a news conference.

My god when will the melodramatic animosity towards religion stop here. It makes us look friggin ridiculous.

34. A state-sponsored, taxpayer-funded prayer meeting...
...violates the separation of church and state. To deny that makes you look "friggin ridiculous."

27. Georgia is in serious drought right now
it is so bad the Peach, peanut and soybean crops will fail.

I know lots of southern farmers and they could be wiped out
if it doesn't rain a lot real soo.

believe me they are praying for rain too...

...comments such as those made by the likes of Pat Robertson.

9. careful. There are some folks from GA who come here for that very reason.
They live outside of Atlanta and they come here to be with like-minded folks. Treat them kindly.

31. Too bad they ran off all them Cherokees; even a trail of tears would help right now
I feel sorry in the current sweep of events in this country for moderate and sensible believers in a supreme being; to have to listen to all the ludicrous primitive superstition must be quite embarrassing.

Booga booga booga.
