Hallandale firm recalls toothpaste made in China that may contain poison

MIAMI -- A South Florida company recalled toothpaste it imported from China and distributed to wholesalers, saying Monday the product may contain a poisonous chemical.

Hallandale Beach-based Gold City Enterprise LLC said the roughly 170,000 recalled toothpaste products may contain diethylene glycol, a thickening agent used in antifreeze and as a cheaper substitute for the sweetener glycerin.

The toothpaste brands are Shir Fresh Mint Flouride, Shir Fresh Ice Shir Mint Flouride and Shir Fresh Cool Shir Mint Flouride.

The management couldn't get into the machine, so they posted a sign on it telling people not to buy the poisonous toothpaste.

at a liquidation-discount-type store, because it came with a free toothbrush. I haven't used the toothpaste (because it's vanilla flavored), and now I will definitely not use the toothpaste!x(
