Fired US Attorney John McKay Speaks Out
By Jason Leopold
t r u t h o u t | Report

Tuesday 12 June 2007

"I asked for a meeting with Harriet Miers, whom I had known since work I had been involved in with the American Bar Association, and she immediately agreed to see me in August of 2006," McKay told me. McKay said that when he met with Miers and her deputy William Kelley at the White House, the first thing they asked him was, "Why would Republicans in the state of Washington be angry with you?"

That was "a clear reference to the 2004 governor's election," McKay said in characterizing Miers and her deputy's comments. "Some believed I should convene a federal grand jury and bring innocent people before the grand jury."

"All of my actions as United States attorney had been coordinated with the Department of Justice," McKay told me. He said he explained that to Miers and Kelley, and informed them that there was no evidence of voter fraud to support launching a federal inquiry into the election.

.................

But the question that remains unanswered is who put his name on the list?

McKay said he believes it came directly from high-level officials in the White House. McKay said he believe Attorney General Alberto Gonzales knows the identity of the officials who selected the US attorneys for termination, but Gonzales has lied to Congress in order to protect the administration.

1. Hey McKay! No one cares!
I mean, we can't even get a non-binding, non-anything resolution passed.

And people are insisting on impeachment . . . pfft. How many votes would we get for THAT? Five? Two?

The current Congress sickens me.

22. There have been a few Republican convictions, Abramoff, Cunningham, et.al.,
Not over Gonzales, but the issues are related = politization of the DoJ.

Linkages are obvious, esp. in the Carol Lam firing.

orchestrated this entire scandal with his team of election thugs.

2004 theft was under construction since they took office in Jan 2001.

11. Yep. Bev Harris screamed about Dem FRAUD in Washington State...
Guess it was a load of crap considering a Republican appointed US Attorney didn't see anything there to prosecute. Now, he is without a job. Hmmmmm...

These criminals have infiltrated EVERY ASPECT of our government. To believe that they haven't infiltrated the Election Reform movement is ridiculous.

24. What? "To believe that they haven't infiltrated the Election Reform movement is ridiculous."
Don't you mean control 80-90% of it? And drain off the contributions. And provide all the diversion issues. And detract from any real evidence.

4. I think McKay's case is one of the most grievous
because of the very high profile of the WA governor's election and how very, very close it was. The GOP was unabashed in their cries of voter fraud even though even the press said they had no evidence. Yet McKay ended up taking the fall in the name of partisan politics and the truth be damned.

7. WHY can't he be indicted
A president was taken to trial and impeached for lying on a sex case. Now this man has lied repeatedly to congress about actions that could lead to the security of this country. Why, just why in the devil can't congress indict him. After all his answers on on tape...That they can't get around.

18. He can be indicted. What evidence do we have? Parse-lies?
If you can prove that "I do not recall" is a lie, we are in business. Parse-lies do not count as chargable crimes.

If you just analyze his attorney-speak, it simply says, "I'm working around an obvious lie I cannot tell, so I'll parse a string of bull crap together for you that will make you think I answered your question the way I would if I told a direct lie that would sound a lot like what this seems to say."

Definition: A "parse-lie" is a political plant that blooms all year long. It is not a lie, just a florid string of crap that makes one believe something not said. It is a clever construction that makes one believe the lie it replaces. At the same time, it end runs the actual lie by parsing truth to sound like the lie it averts. Parse-lie blossoms have a slight scent of bull crap. Recently, the White House Parse-Lie Garden has been stinking horridly due to massive amount of parse-lie blooming.

Gonzolies is still the number one cop, parse-lies really stink, and you need more than "I do not recall" to prosecute someone for lying to Congress.

Clinton was impeached for "perjury," not lying.

9. News - shocking news at that - would be - Gonzales tells the truth
Whatever - vectors of society - that wish to, can continue to tell me how Bush Inc lied and continues to lie and I'm going to be less than receptive since they always get away with their lying. I know Bush Inc lies and have lied since the word Selected. The outrage isn't that they lie - it's that they get away with it.

Anyone wanting to yank my chain will hafta offer up more.
