So what would happen IF we bombed Iran?
With all this talk about 'maybe' bombing Iran, and tough guy LIEberman drooling about bombing Iran, and all this sabre rattling at Iran and all those battleships near Iran, maybe we should be trying to imagine what would happen AFTER we've bombed Iran.

What the fuck is going on here anyway?

2. I would imagine we'd be stuck
What could we do after that? I mean a few cruise missles as a show of strength we could get away with, but I don't think that's what Lieberman and others are talking about. Rather they are talking about bombs as a prelude to invasion and occupation.

Can't think that would go very well.

13. No single nation, but a Russia/China alliance would be formidable
I don't believe those nations will idly stand by if Bushco attacks Iran.

4. Think of Pandora's Box being opened and all the evils flying out.
It took one act of small time "terrorism" in Sarajevo in 1917 to spark a World War. This is much bigger and with economies comingled, this act could have dire consequences on nearly every nation, on every person living in a civilized society.

6. International condemnation
Most of the world is fed up and sick of the antics of Generalissimo Bunnypants.

This might be the last straw.

And by that, I mean diplomatic protests up to and including recalling ambassadors, etc.

World-wide boycotts of American products (the few that are left, anyways) and services.

Protests at American Embassies worldwide.

And it might even spark a general movement to isolate the US both financially and politically.

The damage would be incalculable.

9. I had to look up what a Basiji is
Yikes! I think you're absolutely right - these guys are the fanatic's fanatic.

And a bombing of their own country would send them into full jihad mode.

8. I see dead cars
Dead for the inability to get inexpensive fuel any longer. An attack on Iran could cause oil prices to spiral out of control. A couple of sunk ships could block the Strait of Hormuz through which most of "our" oil must pass.

And we know that the Russians decided to spend their R&D money not on giant aircraft carriers and über fighters, but on state-of-the-art missile technology. While those that think that our military is invincible claim that our military superiority is unmatched we may find it's overrated. After all of the money we've spent on weapon systems that have later proven to be ineffective is considered, it's not beyond the pale to think that our current weapon systems suffer from vulnerabilities that the Russians are capable of exploiting. So we may discover to our horror that engaging Iran was a suicide mission.

10. T.V. News Show ratings would probably pop 'up' for awhile.
Advertisers will simply Love It.

In the meantime, just play the corporate game and
Spread a couple of bets in NYMEX Crude Oil Futures.

And establish the habit of
Keeping the Boat's fuel tanks always topped off with diesel.

As the 'Chosen' rejoice in accumulating new paper wealth
born of surging energy commodities,
the rest of the authoritarian followers can be displayed
in snappy T.V. news clips, rummaging about gasoline pumps,
never cluttering the little gray cells
with ugly thoughts of distant death and destruction
wrought upon a 'strange and evil' Persia.

Heil
