1. What YOU said.
I see no reason for enthusiasm or optimism. My new motto is "Veni Vidi Fece": I came, I saw, I got shit on.

5. Maybe what Greenbriar is saying is that there is no political solution.
I would have to agree. What the Vichy-Dems are doing is shitting on everyone who worked to get "them" the majority. All for nothing.

It's time to look elsewhere for solutions.

10. I'm all for looking for productive solutions. But I don't consider...
...wailing and gnashing of teeth, and name-calling, and feeling sorry for ourselves to be very productive. In fact, I'd go so far as to call it counterproductive.

9. I've called Levin and Stabenow at least 3 times a week since November.
I've emailed and called Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi at least once a week since November. Same with Leahy. Same with the Democrat de Jour.

Nobody is listening. I won't stop, but if you've got a reason for me to stop stockpiling canned goods, bottled water, and erecting my wind generator in the middle of a city...I'm all ears.

3. Take a break!! Keep it turned off and enjoy
the June air. Even if Gore were our president, things could stay the same. Go commit some random acts of kindness.

4. I like Gore a lot and I think he's done well since 2000
But I don't think, if elected, his presidency would be all that much more liberal than Obamas or Edwards.

6. Aw, come on. The conservatives killed it, but the vote passed 58-38.
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/06/11/conservatives-kill-gonzales-no-confidence-vote/

Conservatives kill Gonzales no-confidence vote.

Moments ago, the no-confidence measure on Alberto Gonzales came up seven votes short of a procedural hurdle, passing 53-38. The vote was largely down party lines, except for seven Republicans who supported the measure (Coleman, Collins, Hagel, Smith, Snowe, Specter, Sununu) and Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), who opposed it.

UPDATE: Complete roll call vote is HERE:

7. All the Dems for cloture. What else was to be done?
You need to extend beyond the present mess toward the future. We continue to help the GOP as they paint themselves into corners. As we continue to press and they continue to support obvious criminals and those who urinating on the Constitution, our position becomes stronger.

12. No Dem voted against cloture
Do you think Allen
Santorum
Talent
and so forth would have voted this way?

06 did make a difference. But there are still not enough Dems in the Senate. We have to keep pushing.

8. It would take more than the new Al Gore
The problem is we have a Congress that is beholden to special interests and entrenched power. It doesn't matter if the party label is Republican or Democratic. The Senate in particular is a group who, when push comes to shove, will go along to get along. It is all about money and political power. Right and wrong mean nothing.

14. apart from your apparent lack of math skills
you also appear to have a flawed understanding of the legislative process. There are 51 members of the Democratic caucus. One (Lieberman) voted against the no-confidence resolution four (Johnson, Obama, Biden, Dodd) didn't vote. The cloture motion failed not because of those votes, but because there were only 7 repubs that supported cloture.

Explain to me what "DINOs" and "wanna be's" did something yesterday to cause you to lose hope. I'm curious.

15. I feel the same way
I wish I had even a shred of hope, but this Congress is not stepping up to the plate the way I hoped they would.

Any Democratic fundraiser who calls our house is being told, "Not a penny until impeachment is on the table."

16. November WAS a victory, just not big enough of a victory.
Edited on Tue Jun-12-07 02:17 PM by kineta
No Democrats voted against the no confidence bill yesterday and 7 Republicans voted with us. We don't have 60 Democrats in the Senate to get a majority. Yet.

Don't give up hope and don't blame the Dems. Okay?

18.  we may not have enough dems in the senate
Not to get on your case but what about the dems before nov , they sat back and confirmed all the criminals the reubs wanted including torture boy and condi and two supreme court judges . How does this look and what does this say about the Dems .

This is one reason I have lost hope in this so called government we have now , only a few are the real deal and a few are not enough .

Feingold wanted to censure bush and he was left hanging in the breeze by the dems .

when the word "hate" is used, feel free to accuse. Until then, deal with the emotion you see; do not construct a strawman.
