Counting The Days Until Ben Gets Out Of The Marines! HooRah!

Ben has his last evaluation on Thursday, he told me last night as he celebrated his 26th Birthday that he was just gonna rip the sink out (ala Chief in One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest)and tell the shrink to fucking cut him loose.

I can not wait to have him come and give Peyton and I a big kiss. This has been such a rocky couple of years but things are looking UP UP UP!

43. That's awesome news! When my brother got out of the army

he named our parents' home as his forwarding address so they could screen his mail from the army for him when this war stuff started heating up, just in case they needed to rope him back in.

In 1991, the army tried to call my father-in-law back to be evaluated for active duty after his 20 and retirement in 1980. He wrote the big "Fuck You" on it and returned it.

There are tough readjustment days ahead. It's hard to switch from one universe to another.

Just love him up and gently guide his thoughts to the good stuff ahead, rather than the bad stuff behind. That'll be hard, because he'd different now than when he went away.

Somebody once described the emotional state of returning combat vets as NOT a roller-coaster, but a bungy-jump. The ups and downs are steeper.
