Poll question: Are you living closer to the east coast or the west coast?
Edited on Tue Jun-12-07 10:30 PM by Breeze54
Just thought I'd post a pop quiz, regarding a possible DU Family Reunion.

So, how many of us live closer to the east coast, the west coast or in the N/S mid-west?

I guess, if we could swing it, we'd all want to make it accessible and central to all members.

Right? It would be soooo cool to have a HUGE DU PARTY!! :P

Draw an imaginary line through the middle North to South and East to West....

Sort of between North Dakota and Minnisota and California to New Jersey

I would think Virginia would be on the east coast or pretty close.

So, pick the south east!! You're closer than the west coast! :P

OK?? South west!!!

The point is to get an idea of how many are where.

18. I said Southwest since that is what Arizona is.....
But we are so close to CA that West Coast is almost a correct answer.

Last year, I went to CA for... 1. my son's college graduation up in Arcata. and 2. My 1st grandbaby's birth near Yosemite.

I went to one state and piled on the miles in my Jeep.

So, you can count me as either SW or West it doesn't matter.

By your definition in the OP, it could be considered SW. I am one state over from CA so why does that make me SW?

24. I've always thought of CA as West Coast.
But others may differ. It's not exact anyway.

Just trying to get an idea of where the majority hails from.

It looks to me, from the poll responses right now, that any

gathering would have to be in the midwest anyway!

29. Believe me Breeze, when I say there is a BIG difference between
Northern CA and Southern CA.

I fought to divide CA into 2 states back in the late 70's and early 80's. What stopped us? WATER! Southern CA is so dependent on the north's water that they will do anything and everything they can to stop it.

They are 2 totally different areas. Your survery asked us to divide the country (east to west) between New Jersey and California. What parallel are you talking about? What is the California dividing line?

Now we'll have to organize a place to have this shindig!! ;)

Anybody have a field they can loan us?? :P

We have to be able to have bands play, so we need access to electricity!

I know someone above said they have 40 acres of woods in Michigan, I think!

Does it have bathroom facilities??

38. Not so fast!! lol!
I think in the long run, the mid west will win on this one!

Seems to be central, as we have almost equal amounts of members from across the USA!

So far, anyway! I can drive to the midwest and my son has a band so he can play his music!

He knows a lot of musicians that might play too!

It would be great if we could actually organize a gathering before winter and the elections!

At least, I think it would be cool! :P

40. Why not have regionals then a finals on each coast? NY and LA (or Bakersfield....)
I like in Bakers-hell myself ;)

DU meetups by city, then state, then region, and one yearly big meetup on same day on both coasts with live blogging.

This would help those who cannot travel far at least get to meet those in their city/state and it would be open to those who like to travel a lot (and can) if they want to come on by.

Just an idea with a kick!

42. Good ideas but I thought the main idea was
to have us or as many of us that can, to all be,

in the same place, at the same time.

Hence the name DU Family Reunion!! :P

But your idea is great for those who can not travel.

We could stage a virtual meet up online for them!!

We could set up live feed from the party place with video cams!

45. DU Reunion Poll Tally as of 06/13/07
Edited on Wed Jun-13-07 05:30 PM by Breeze54
Poll Tally as of 06/13/07

East Coast Dwellers: 54

West Coast Dwellers: 82

South East Dwellers: 31

South West Dwellers: 17

Mid West Dwellers: 32

Out of Country: 1

Will party anywhere: 1

Not interested: 3

------------------

Total: 218 Attendee's Possible!!!

(and the numbers keep rising!) ;)

-----------------------------------------------------

So, looks like the west coast has the majority of the votes!!

But some of them said going to the mid west was not a problem.

It still seems to me that having a reunion in the mid west might be the better alternative!

That's if everyone still wants to do this and actually plan a party!

------------------------------------------------------------

I probably can't afford to fly or drive to the west coast but I could make it to the mid west!

West Coast is kicking ass!!! :woohoo:

Looks like I will be driving to CA!!! :P

That is if I want to go to the reunion!!

But, on the other hand...if you add the
east coast and mid west and south east numbers together...

We win!! 117 strong!!!

;)

I do want to go. I think it would be fun but I'm
worried about the cost of traveling that distance.
